Four exciting Legendary and Mythical Pokemon that Niantic could feature in Pokemon GO’s Elite Raids.
Since their inception, Pokemon GO’s Elite Raids have featured five Pokemon, with three making their debut exclusively through them. Unlike normal raids, Elite Raids cannot be done remotely and host much tougher bosses, thus demanding a coordinated team of trainers.
Previous Elite Raids have featured Legendary and Mythical Pokemon, with the most recent being the Mega-evolved form of Rayquaza. Based on this pattern, we’ll speculate on 4 Pokemon that could make their debut through this format in the future.
Elite Raid Debuts That Can Happen in Pokemon GO
1. Eternatus
Eternatus remains one of the few Legendary or Mythical Pokemon from the Galar region yet to make its debut in Pokemon GO. With the introduction of Gigantamax in Max Out, Eternatus’s Eternamax form could be released through events similar to Gigantamax Battles. However, before Eternamax, there is a chance that Eternatus will first appear as an Elite Raid Boss.
The Legendary heroes of Galar, Zacian and Zamazenta, have already made their mark in the game, and their connection to Eternatus in the story further builds anticipation for its inevitable arrival. Given the creature’s position of power and significance in the lore, it would only be fitting for Eternatus to feature in Elite Raids.
2. Glastrier & Spectrier
Glastrier and Spectrier could appear in back-to-back Elite Raids, following a pattern similar to the release of two of the Legendary Giants, Regieleki and Regidrago. Since the two equine Pokemon are part of the same group, it would make sense for Niantic to debut them in consecutive Elite Raids.
The two made their Pokemon debut in the Sword and Shield DLC, The Crown Tundra. Glastrier and Spectrier can fuse with Calyrex and become Ice Rider Calyrex or Shadow Rider Calyrex, respectively. Following the same pattern as Necrozma and its Fusion forms, it’s possible that Calyrex could be released before its two steeds, similar to how Cosmog debuted before Necrozma.

3. Terapagos
Although it is unclear whether or not Niantic has any plans for adding Terastalization to their game right now, we can safely assume that the Legendaries from the Paldean region will make their debut sometime in the future. One potential candidate for a grand debut could be the Legendary tortoise Pokemon, Terapagos.
The Normal-type Legend is known to have three forms: the Normal Form, Terastal Form, and the Stellar Form. Given its importance in the Paldea region, Terapagos might be introduced as an Elite Raid Boss and also set the stage for the eventual addition of Terastalization mechanics.
4. Magearna
Given that Mythical Pokemon like Hoopa Unbound have previously been featured in Elite Raids, it’s plausible that Magearna could follow a similar path. Magearna is a Fairy- and Steel-type Pokemon and boasts strong stats.
Its power will not only prove the artificial Pokemon to be a challenging raid boss but could also make it a viable option in the GO Battle League. Higher tiers of the GO Battle League tend to have many Dragon and Fairy-type Pokemon, which Magearna can potentially counter with ease.
