In this Path of Exile 2 (PoE2) boss guide, we shall go over how to defeat the Rootdredge optional boss in Act 2 of the game.
Path of Exile 2 has several optional bosses for players looking for a challenge. These bosses step up the challenge on a level above what you’d expect from the main quest bosses and bring a fresh experience. The Rootdredge is one of the optional bosses found in Path of Exile 2.
The boss tests your crowd control skills in addition to being a DPS check for your build. The boss requires a specific strategy to be dealt with, which we shall discuss here. In this Path of Exile 2 (PoE2) boss guide, we shall go over how to defeat the Rootdredge optional boss in Act 2 of the game.
Where To Find Rootdredge?
The Rootdredge boss is an optional boss found in Act 2 of Path of Exile 2. The boss rests in the Sandswept Marsh, an area you pass through in the game’s second act. You will find the Rootdredge at the Foul Location within the Sandswept Marsh. This area is randomly generated and can spawn anywhere within the region. We recommend thoroughly searching the Sandswept Marsh to find the Foul Ritual and begin the Rootdredge boss fight.
How To Beat Rootdredge
The Bogfelled Commoners
Rootdredge is a necromancer who relies heavily on his magic to do the heavy lifting. As you kick off the boss fight, the necromancer will reanimate corpses buried under the arena. The mindless zombies, called the Bogfelled Commoners, will then zone in on you slowly. We recommend staying on the move to avoid being cornered and overwhelmed by the swarm.
Some of these reanimated corpses carry axes and may blend well within the horde. These enemies hit hard, so keep your eye on the swarm to watch out for these guys in particular. AOE attacks are the way to go to deal with the mob. Use AOE attacks to wipe out the swarm in one swift go.
We recommend luring the swarm toward the necromancer and then using AOE attacks on both of them at once. If you don’t have any AOE abilities, we suggest investing in one before you begin the fight.
Beating the Rootdredge
As you deal with the swarm, a Rotting Hulk will join the fray. This creature is massive, hits hard, and spits out venomous fluids. We recommend luring the Rotting Hulk to the Rootdrege and using AOE attacks to deal damage to both. Take note, however, that if you stay close to the Rootdredge for too long, he will use a green blast AOE attack to deal damage. Stray away from him and deal damage from a distance to defeat the Rootdredge.
