The incident at the GATE Cascade Research Facility in Abiotic Factor causes all kinds of otherworldly creatures to invade Earth. While some of these entities are not that difficult to beat, others are much trickier to handle. A prime example of this is the Giant Power Leech, a creature that feeds on electricity and appears during a Rolling Blackout event. Since these events can occur at random, there is no real way of predicting when you might be facing one of these creatures. So, the best move is to always stay prepared.

In this guide, we will explore some tips to help you beat the Giant Power Leech in Abiotic Factor easily.

As we said earlier, the Giant Power Leech and the smaller leeches only spawn during Rolling Blackouts. It is one of the many weather events that can occur in the game at random times. You will know when it is a Rolling Blackout event because the lights all across the facility will begin to flicker, regardless of the time of day. Any equipment of yours that requires power will start to malfunction unless you hook them up to batteries.

Soon, you will notice small power leeches spawning and attaching themselves to your power sources, including batteries. Start taking these entities out one after the other. As you clear the base of the smaller entities, the Giant Power Leech will eventually spawn. It generally spawns in one of the facility’s larger rooms. The most likely spawn spot for this enemy is the Office Sector Cafeteria.

Keep in mind that the Giant Power Leech will unleash lightning bolts toward you randomly throughout the fight. Also, it goes without saying that both this larger variant and the smaller leeches are immune to electricity-based attacks. Here are some tips you can instead use to defeat it.

  • Make sure you stick to ranged weaponry because getting close enough to the Giant Power Leech can be problematic. The Security Pistol is a great ranged option after you have found the Keypad Hacker. Otherwise, for early game, you can rely on the Makeshift Crossbow and its bolts. During the mid to late game stages, you can use the Grinder for heavy damage and its high firing rate.
  • The enemy is weak against blunt damage, so thrown weapons such as Throwing Darts are also a decent way to hurt the entity.
  • You should equip yourself with armor that gives you at least 10 defense. This makes the fight much easier and allows you to get in enough hits without constantly worrying about your own health.
  • Still, have a few healing items at hand, which should give you greater control over the battlefield.
  • Do not think twice about chucking a few grenades at the Giant Power Leech, as these are effective against the enemy.
  • Depending on the weapon you use, the Giant Power Leech will take between 35 and 60 hits before it is defeated.

After you kill it, the Rolling Blackout event will end. The drops from the enemy change based on how far you have progressed in the game. During the early game, it might drop a Circuit Board and/or a Powered Crystal. If you have managed to reach Cascade Laboratories, the Giant Power Leech will drop a Capacitor and might even drop a Powered Crystal and a Circuit Board.

Finally, if you have opened the Security Sector Gate Two, the entity will drop a Powered Crystal and have a chance to drop a Capacitor, Circuit Board, and Electrical Organ.
