Awaken Wine Worms in Black Myth Wukong is used to upgrade your Wine. Obtain a wine worm and churn it into the wine. Then, it will transform the drink into a fine brew. Awaken Wine Worm is served for drink upgrades. Awaken Wine Worms are collected from different locations in the game and can be quite challenging. Gather up all the Awaken Wine Worms to gain the most out of your healing.
The Wine Worm is challenging to find, but it’s always available in the barrel. Luckily, one thing that makes finding the Wine Worm barrel easier is that these barrels give off a golden glow. With the help of 12 Awaken Wine Worms, you can easily upgrade more than one drink, such as rare Lambbrew or common Coconut Wine.
All Awaken Wine Worms In Black Myth: Wukong
Here are all Awaken Wine Worm locations to help you get those golden barrels and upgrade your drinks in Black Myth Wukong:

1 Black Wind Cave – Cave Interior
Our first location will be found in Chapter 1 at the cave interior Shrine in the Black Wind Cave. From the Shrine, make your way through the double doors and into the courtyard, and then take left and go up the stairs into the back area. At the left corner of this back area, you can find the containers and your first Wine Worm inside them.
2 Sandgate Village Valley of Despair
Our second location is found in Chapter 2 at the Valley of Despair, found in the Sandgate village region. Once you leave here, you must turn right and head into the Cave. Follow the pathway and you’ll encounter a couple of enemies along the way, so just keep that in mind. Now, hang to the right, and you can see inside of the little wooden posts to your right side, and there you’ll find your next one.
Drop down and follow that little pathway up to the dead end, and you will find the next one at the end of the path. You’ll see the green barrel, and you can go ahead and break it to get your second Wine Worm.
3 Black Wind Mountain – Bamboo Grove
Our third Awaken Wine Worm will be back in Chapter 1 at the Marsh of white Mist in the Bamboo Grove. However, you won’t be able to get this one until you’ve started chapter 3. So, after you start your chapter 3, you can return to this location.
Move into the little cave and speak to the Shen Monkey over there, and you will see that you can buy one of the worms. Go to the store, and you’ll find it after starting chapter 3. If you have unlocked the Zodiac Village through Chen Loong’s quest, only you can find the Shen Monkey.
4 Pagoda Realm – Outside the Wheel
The number 4 Wine Worm is found in Chapter 3. It is at the outside wheel shrine found in the Pagoda Realm region. Once you make your way to the Shrine, you must turn around and follow the pathway. Instead of returning to where the boss fight was, you must take right to the end and drop down.
You’ll see a little spot when you make your way to the ledge. Where you can drop and there, and from there, you can drop one more time. After that, you’re going to encounter some enemies over here. Follow the path once you reach the end, where you can see all the frozen soldiers. Now, look to the left behind them and see the next green barrel. Break the barrel and get your Wine Worm.
5 Valley of Ecstasy – Longevity Road
Number 5, Wine Worm, will also be found in Chapter 3. This one’s over by the Longevity Road Shrine found in the Valley of Ecstasy region. From the Shrine, you’ll come over to the big bending tree. Follow the path behind that. Follow that to the staircase in front of you.
Make your way up the stairs and then just follow the path. And you’re going to end up finding it on the right-hand side. On the ledge is where you’re going to find the next one. Climb up on the mountain on the hill and you can destroy the barrel and get number 5.
6 Black Wind Mountain – Bamboo Grove
This one will be found in Chapter 1 at the Marsh of white Mist Shrine in the Bamboo Grove. This one will be another one you can purchase from the Monkey in the Little Cave. This will not be available until after you start Chapter 4.
Once you reach Chapter 4, you can return to the Shen Monkey. Interact with him, then go to the store and purchase the wine worm. Now, you’ll have another Wine worm that you can purchase.
7 Temple of Yellow Flowers – Temple Entrance
The 7th Wine Worm can be found in Chapter 4 in the Temple Entrance Shrine.It is in the Temple of Yellow Flowers region. Once you make your way to the Shrine, you must turn to the right and go through the doorway. Make your way up to the long set of stairs. You’ll go ahead and head to the top. Go through the little building and move straight to the building in the back. Go ahead and move inside, go out, go up the staircase, and take a left. Now, go up the stairs and then in the back by the giant tree, you’ll be able to find the next one. You can see the old man NPC sitting under the tree near the barrels. Smash the barrels and get your Wine Worm.
8 Village of Lanxi – Estate of the Zhu
The next Wine worm location will be found in Chapter 4 at the state of Zhu Shrine in the village of Lanxi. This is the first Shrine that you’ll encounter in Chapter 4. From the Shrine, make your way up the stairs and through the doorway. Move into the small shed on the right, and in the back left corner, you’ll be able to find the Wine Worm. This is the arena where you fight The Second Sister Boss.
9 Petalfall Hamlet- Secret: Purple Cloud Mountain
Your next Wine worm is located in Chapter 4 over at the Petalfall Halmet Shrine. It is in the Purple Cloud Mountain region, the secret area in Chapter 4. From the shrine, you’re going to work your way over to the bridge. Now, cross the bridge and take a left to go up the stairs.
You have to go up the next set of stairs, except instead, you’re going to stop. Now, turn to the left and you can see a little pathway leading to more stairs; right up there, you can see a green barrel. Break the barrel to obtain your 9th Wine Worm.
10 Black Wind Mountain – Bamboo Grove
The tenth is returned to the Marsh of White Mist in the Bamboo Grove region of Chapter 1. This will be the third and final one you can purchase from the Shen Monkey in the cave. Also, this one doesn’t become available until after starting Chapter 5. Once you reach Chapter 5, you can move back over here. In the store, you’ll see a third and again find Worm Wine from Shen Monkey.
11 Furnace Valley – Rakshasa Palace
The next Wine Worm is in Chapter 5 by the Rakshasa Palace Shrine in the Furnace Valley region. Once you go to this shrine, you will go to the left. You’ll work your way over all the leaves into one of the buildings on the side. Go ahead and move up the staircase. You’ll encounter several enemies along this pathway.
Make your way along the path, and then, at the end of the path, take a left. You can see the building. The giant entrance is going to be right there in front of you. Move inside the building, and you can see the green barrel at the end.
12 Bishui Cave – Corridor of Fire and Ice
Your 12th and final location is in Chapter 5 in the corridor of Fire and Ice in the Secret: Bishui Cave and it’s again the secret area in Chapter 5. From the Shrine, turn to the right down where the little drop-off is. Instead of going down the slide, you must come over to the right and move in the little crack. You’ll see a little staircase and make your way to the top of the stairs. Take a left and right over there, and you’ll be able to find the 12th and final Wine Worm.
How to Use Awaken Wine Worms
To use Awaken Wine Worms, give Shen Monkey the worms, which automatically upgrade whatever drink you can. Once you get all the Awaken Wine Worm in Black Myth Wukong, you can easily upgrade your drinks in the game. Drinks in Black Myth Wukong affect your Gourd, restore your health faster, and provide more Mana. When upgraded using the Wine Worm, it will also affect your character. These are the following upgrades:
- Lambbrew: This drink recovers maximum health and can be found in Chapter 2, Sandgate Village. Take the path up the hill and take a path on the right, and you can see this item at the end of the path.
- Pinebrew: You can purchase this drink from the Shen Monkey in Chapter 3 in the Marsh of White Mist region. This drink will help you recover maximum health, and it gives you a huge amount of focus if you’re low on health.
- Coconut Wine (Common): This is a starting drink that you can get at the start of the game. However, This drink also restores the maximum health of 33%. You can upgrade this drink with Wine Worm and the more you upgrade it, the more it restores the health.
