Learn how to increase unarmed damage in Oblivion Remastered by locating Hand-to-Hand trainers and completing the master training questline.

The Hand-to-Hand skill allows you to fight without weapons in Oblivion Remastered, and it is ideal for Monk or brawler builds. Governed by the Strength attribute, Hand-to-Hand increases unarmed weapon damage, depleting an enemy’s health as well as their Fatigue. At higher ranks, Hand-to-Hand attacks can overcome physical resistance and damage ghosts, stagger enemies with block, and knock them down with power attacks.
Hand-to-Hand increases through combat by landing successful unarmed strikes against foes to gain skill XP. But progression can be slow, especially early on. For faster improvement, it’s often more effective to pay for training from Hand-to-Hand brawling experts around Cyrodiil.
Every Hand-to-Hand Trainer in Oblivion Remastered
Basic and advanced trainers have no lower limit when it comes to skill requirements, and the cost for training with either remains the same. The gold required to train increases by 10 for each level. For instance, increasing Hand-to-Hand from 49 to 50 will cost 490 gold. Below is a list of all Hand-to-Hand trainers found across Cyrodiil in Oblivion Remastered:
Trainer Name | Location | Skill Level |
---|---|---|
Nahsi | Bravil Fighters Guild | Basic (0-40) |
Rufrius Vinicius | Anvil Fighters Guild | Basic (0-40) |
Davela Hlaren | Imperial Bridge Inn | Advanced (0-70) |
Ra’qanar | Castle Cheydinhal | Advanced (0-70) |
Helvius Cecia | Helvius Cecia’s House in Bruma | Master (71-100) |
Approach any of the trainers above and interact with them. Select the “Train” button below the dialogue options to open the training page. Choose to train between one and five skill levels per session. Return to the trainer after your character has leveled up to train again.
Hand-to-Hand Training Quest in Oblivion Remastered

After reaching level 70 in Hand-to-Hand, you will be able to begin the “Hand-to-Hand Training” quest by speaking with either Davela Hlaren or Ra’qanar. They will refer you to Helvius Cecia, an Imperial rogue, to improve your skill further. Follow the objective location marked on your map to find Helvius in Bruma.
When you ask him for training, Helvius Cecia lays out an interesting challenge to test your capabilities. If you can deal 73 damage to him in under 40 seconds, the objective is completed. If you are unable to pass the test, consider using a Fortify Strength potion or spell to deal increased damage. Drawing a weapon or using an offensive spell will end the test. Once you bring Helvius’ health down sufficiently using unarmed attacks within the time limit, “Hand-to-Hand Training” will be completed.
