Sea of Thieves is a game where players loot, eat, sleep, and sail the seas. The game has a solo play option as well as a multiplayer mode, so players can become pirates together. Aside from a hook or a wooden stump, a pirate captain and his crew need a ship to sail across the seas. There are mainly three types of ships in Sea of Thieves, and each one of them has its own attributes. Additionally, each ship sails at a different speed.

In this article, we are going to discuss all Sea of Thieves ship speeds.

Speed of Ships in Sea of Thieves

As mentioned above, each ship in Sea of Thieves sails at different speeds. A fast ship can help in covering long distances quickly. There are some other factors, like wind and the direction in which the ship is headed, that affect the speed. The more the sails, the faster the ship. Read about the speed of all ships in Sea of Thieves below:

1) Sloop

A ship that has only one sail. The sloop is the smallest ship in the game that allows only two players on board. This ship has only one speed stage because it has only one sail. However, when players sail against the wind, the sloop becomes the fastest ship in the game.

2) Brigantine

Unlike a sloop, a brigantine has two sets of sails and two speed stages. Each sail increases the speed of the ship considerably when moving in the direction of the wind. A light music can be heard when setting a sail. Players love to use the brigantine because of its good speed and movement. This ship can store more than a sloop and has better movement than a galleon. Additionally, it can sail pretty well when going against the wind.

3) Galleon

This is the largest ship in Sea of Thieves. A galleon has three sets of sails, meaning it has three speed stages. Just like the brigantine, each sail increases the speed when moving in the direction of the wind. Having three sails makes the galleon the fastest ship in Sea of Thieves when moving with the wind. However, the same ship becomes the slowest when sailing against the wind. Because the ship is too big, a crew of 4 people is required to manage the ship properly.
