Apple has announced the new Apple Games app, which is designed to be an all-in-one hub for gaming. It will replace the Game Center app.

Apple finally revealed the new Games app at the WWDC 2025 event after months of leaks and rumors. It is designed to be your one destination for everything related to gaming and even includes a dedicated tab for the Apple Arcade program. It looks as if Apple ripped out the Games section of the App Store and made it into its own app, which is certainly a great way of bringing all your favorite games to the touch of your fingers.
The new Games app has all the social features of the Game Center app, including leaderboards. It will replace the Game Center app. In this article, we will discuss more about the new Games app and everything it brings to the table.

The New and Unified Apple Games App
Here are all the major new features and changes in the Apple Games App:
All-In-One Download Hub
You will be able to download all your favorite games, including Apple Arcade and AAA console titles, from a single location without requiring you to visit the App Store. Apple has seamlessly integrated them, so they won’t require any user input as long as you are signed into your Apple Arcade subscription.
Friends List

Your entire friend list and friend management system are packed into a single section called Play Together. You view your friends, chat with them, or play a game together. You can also create groups and assign each to different games.
Leaderboards

The leaderboard allows you to compete for the top position among your friends in supported titles. It’s Apple’s way of creating a sort of multiplayer experience inside single-player games by throwing challenges for you and your friends to complete.
Provide In-game Overlay
iPad and Mac users will receive an in-game overlay via the new Games app, which will allow them to access their friends and contacts list while they are active in a game. Unfortunately, it won’t be available on iPhones, which is probably an intentional choice due to their smaller displays.
This concludes all the major new features coming with the Apple Games app. We will learn more about the features hidden inside the app during the beta testing phase.
