If you’re a long-time anime fan, there are some anime moments that stick to your memories for years. These battles showcase mainly the powers of the characters. In action anime, sheer power is one of the most defining aspects of a character.

However, action scenes are also a chance to put the character’s cleverness under the spotlight. A win is not always achieved with brute force in anime. These scenes can also leave an impression that fans can’t forget even if years have passed.

Be it because of the emotional outcomes or simply the intense actions, the following anime battles are ones to remember. Here’s the list of seven legendary battles in anime (not ranked in any particular order).

“My grandpa’s deck has no pathetic card, Kaiba.” Whether you’re an old-school or a new-gen anime fan, there is a chance you have heard this iconic line. Other than the fact that this battle has been turned into a meme in the community, it is a big reveal of one of the most powerful cards in the series. Yu-Gi-Oh! Has evolved from a manga to anime adaptations and to the wildly popular trading card game. So, it’s no wonder that the franchise has accumulated numerous fans from multiple generations.

This specific battle between Yugi and Kaiba features the first appearance of the Exodia. At first, Yugi was cornered after Kaiba called upon two of his Blue-Eyes White Dragons. On top of that, the cards that showed up from his deck were just pieces of parts, with abysmal attack and defense power.

Yugi had to stop Kaiba’s monster from attacking with the spell card, Sword of Revealing Light. However, after three turns, Kaiba would be free to attack him. When Kaiba mocked Yugi, calling his cards pathetic, Yugi pulled the last piece of Exodia. With this, all pieces were complete and victory was Yugi’s for the taking.

Goku’s transformation into his Super Saiyan form is the most significant point of the Dragon Ball Z anime. It happens in the 95th episode Transformed at Last. The Super Saiyan transformation could only happen when a Saiyan had accumulated enough S-cells. However, the trigger for someone to transform into a Super Saiyan would be intense emotion, such as what happened to Goku.

Goku was confronting Frieza on planet Namek. The ruthless galactic emperor mercilessly murdered Krillin, Goku’s best friend. After witnessing this tragic event, Goku was overwhelmed with rage and intense emotions. This prompted his transformation into Super Saiyan for the first time.

5. Naruto and Sasuke’s First Fight at the Valley of the End

The first battle at the Valley of the End serves as a monumental setting in the series. For Naruto’s fans, the reveal of the red chakra was a big moment. It was further development towards Naruto’s hidden power and Sasuke’s cursed seal. Not only that, it also becomes a reference point for the Naruto: Shippuden climactic battle between Naruto and Sasuke.

The valley itself became the perfect stage for Naruto and Sasuke considering its historical significance. It was formed during a battle between the first Hokage, Hashirama Senju, and Madara Uchiha. The fight between Ichigo Kurosaki and Byakuya Kuchiki is one of the most hyped anime battles in the 2000s. Because Rukia transferred her Shinigami power to Ichigo, now she had to be executed. So Ichigo and his friends set out to free her. However, along the way, they were stopped by the Gotei 13, with Byakuya facing off against Ichigo.

Ichigo facing Byakuya is a major point in Bleach’s plot. At this particular point, it’s his second time facing the sixth division’s captain. In this fight, Ichigo’s Bankai revealed itself, much to Byakuya’s surprise. The two were equally determined in this battle. Byakuya wanted to maintain the tradition while Ichigo would stop at nothing to save Rukia.

3. Levi and Erwin Vs the Beast Titan

When it comes to the most bitter relationship in the entire Attack on Titan series, Levi and Zeke’s has to be the one. Their conflicts began as soon as the two first met. The Survey Corps returned to Shiganshina to retrieve whatever information they could get from Eren’s basement. However, Zeke, Reiner, Bertholt, and Pieck were ready to ambush them.

To buy enough time, Erwin led some of the remaining Survey Corps members. He charged straight at the Beast Titan’s direction. Evidently, it proved to be a great distraction tactic. While the Beast Titan was busy fending off Erwin’s charge, Captain Levi snuck in from the sidelines. This was the beginning of a long and bitter rivalry between Levi and Zeke as the Beast Titan.

Demon Slayer also has one of the most memorable fights of the last few years. The Mugen Train arc finale showed an Upper Moon in action for the first time. After a lengthy battle against the Lower Moon One, Tanjiro was left weakened and was in Rengoku, the Flame Hashira’s company.

However, things turned for the worse when another demon showed up. It was not looking good for Tanjiro and Rengoku, the one who stood in their way was the Upper Moon Three, Akaza. What follows is a legendary anime battle between the Hashira and the Upper Moon Three.

The two exchanged blows against each other until the break of dawn. However, by the time the sun started rising, Akaza broke free from Rengoku’s clutch and fled. Unfortunately, this deadly battle cost Rengoku his life.

1. Yuji’s Final Fight with Mahito

Yuji and Mahito’s battle at the end of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 is one of the best moments in the series. Previously, the two had a chance to fight each other in earlier episodes. However, Mahito slipped away. The finale sets the stage for a final battle between the climactic end of the Shibuya Incident arc.

At first, the two fought on even ground. However, Mahito’s cruel and inhuman use of transfigured humans was something else. For a moment, he broke Yuji mentally. Especially after he witnessed Nobara critically wounded. However, the table turned once again when Todo arrived at the scene.

Together with Todo, Yuji pushed back against Mahito even in his awakened form. Fans acknowledge this battle as one of the legendary anime battles of recent years. In the end, the two defeated Mahito, although Todo ended up wounded.
