Dr. Stone anime is nearing the climax of the story. Check out this Dr. Stone arcs guide if you want to rush in and grab the manga instead.
It started when a mysterious green light wiped out humanity. Anyone who got exposed turned into stone in an instant. Years passed, and one of them started cracking down. And, behold the genius protagonist, Senku, was the first one to be awakened.
Dr. Stone’s story begins with an abrupt and mysterious calamity that petrified every single person for more than three thousand years. Thankfully, all those years got time-skipped, or else, imagine how much the series would squeeze the mangaka’s sweat and blood. Jokes aside, the actual plot is long nonetheless. With fourteen arcs covering the whole story, Dr. Stone tells about how Senku Ishigami and his friends restored civilization, starting from scratch.
However, the manga officially divides the story into six broader sagas. This post will include both so that you can pinpoint where you want to continue reading the manga. The manga has already reached its end in 2022. So, if you’re looking to discover the mystery behind Dr. Stone’s petrification, you can do it in one sitting.

This is the list of Dr. Stone’s entire story in chronological order. If you’ve caught up with the anime and now sitting while the last episode of season 3 is rolling, you can comfortably jump straight to chapter 143 of the manga.
Should You Skip Any Dr. Stone Arc?
There’s no reason to skip any of the Dr. Stone arcs, since pretty much all of them are essential to the story. However, if you’re reading for the story alone, then you skip all of the arcs before chapter 143 because it’s where the anime left off.
However, it is recommended that you read the manga from the beginning for a better experience. The art in Dr. Stone is simply gorgeous; Boichi’s illustrations in the manga have impressed readers since the beginning. Arguably, you might even find a better experience reading the manga and enjoying the panels compared to watching the anime.
Which Are the Longest and Shortest of Dr. Stone’s Arcs?
The longest arc in Dr. Stone is the Treasure Island arc. This is where Senku finally embarked to confront the reason behind all the mass petrification. With unexpected clues from his long-dead father, Byakuya Ishigami, Senku departed to the Treasure Island. However, what he found was a similar place to the Ishigami village, but it hid a much sinister past.
On the other hand, the shortest arc is tied between the Stone Formula and the Vs Hyoga arc. The Stone Formula arc is simply the introduction to the story. This is where the enigmatic green light turned everyone into stone. Quite frankly, Dr. Stone’s underlying mystery might be one of the best looming threat tropes in anime. Nobody knew what happened, nobody knew the reason behind the mass petrification, and everything was gone in the blink of an eye.
Compared to the Stone Formula arc, the Vs Hyoga arc tells more about the inevitable conflicts between the awakened humans. Previously, Hyoga was the main antagonist’s right-hand man, Tsukasa. Just like Tsukasa, Hyoga leaned toward the new warrior culture lifestyle. Eventually, though, Hyoga joined Senku and the Kingdom of Science’s effort to unveil the petrification mystery.
Which Dr. Stone Arc Is Likely To Be Animated in Season 4?
At the moment, there are 62 manga chapters left to be animated. These last chapters are chapters 170 to 231. Therefore, the Truth of the Petrification Saga and the Stone to Space Saga are the ones left still only in manga panels. Or, if you want to be arc-specific, season 4 would likely cover the last four arcs, which are the South American arc, the New Stone World arc, the Globetrotting arc, and the Moon Mission arc.
Good news for all Dr. Stone fans out there, the new year is coming and so is Dr. Stone season 4. The first part of this finale would likely cover where season 3 left off up to the end of the New Stone World arc. It’s safe to say that TMS Entertainment will save the most climactic end for the second part of season 4.
Conclusion
All in all, Dr. Stone is a bingeworthy series, both the anime and the manga. There’s so much to enjoy from Senku’s adventure to uncover the mystery behind the world’s petrification. Not to mention, all the inventions Senku had to make from scratch to overcome every problem he faced. Dr. Stone gives a real spotlight for science to shine in fun and adventurous ways.
