EA Sports has announced crossplay for EAFC 25, but it will be limited to devices from the same generation.
The early access release of EAFC 25 has created a buzz in the community. Players all over the world are looking forward to the official release of the game on September 27, 2024. The game is available on the following platforms – PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. As such, players have naturally inquired about crossplay. Thankfully, EAFC 25 will have crossplay features, but there will be limitations.
EAFC 25 Crossplay – An Overview
EA Sports has confirmed that crossplay is coming for platforms that belong to the same generation. PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S will be grouped together as per this rule. Xbox One and PS4 users will pair together. Switch players will have to play against each other since crossplay will not be available on the platform.
Crossplay will be enabled by default in the game settings. Players can access crossplay features in game modes like Online Friendlies, Fut Play A Friend, Fut Online Friendlies, Online Seasons, FUT Rivals, FUT Champions, and FUT Online Draft, like in FIFA 23. However, in EAFC 25, the developers have also added crossplay to Pro Clubs, Co-Op Season, VOLTA Football, and Ultimate Team Co-Op.
You can add friends either through the EA App or in-game. The cross-play option is visible in the settings as “Opt-in to cross-play”. You can select or deselect the option as per your choice.
EAFC 25 Cross-Platform Allows For Shared Transfer Market
The enabling of crossplay between PC and new-gen consoles this year has led to a shared transfer market. PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC players will access the same transfer market. In EAFC 24, the transfer market was separate for PC and consoles.
This decision by EA Sports has received mixed responses from the community, but it is an interesting development nonetheless.
The full launch of EAFC 25 will take place on September 27. The game is currently in early access. The crossplay features may see some change down the road.
