I’ve Been Killing Slimes season 1 was well received with a rating of 6.91 on MyAnimeList, with the previous season ending on 26th June 2021. Season 2 was announced on January 4th, 2022. And, a little over three years later, it is finally coming to our screens.
Fans who loved the previous comedy-adventure-fantasy season were excited to hear the news of I’ve Been Killing Slimes 2. That said, the new release date has been confirmed and will be April 5th, 2025, so it won’t be long before we get to see Azusa and her friends return to the screen. An official trailer already gave fans a sneak peek at the new season. It features new characters, colorful animation, and the absorbing storytelling that won over viewers in the first place.
The new trailer featured action sequences and a glimpse of newer adventures to come. Locations like the beach and a snowy forest were shown. New viewers can stream the first season on Crunchyroll. The new season will broadcast on AT-X at 21:30 and on TOKYO MX and BS11 at 22:00, every Saturday.
I’ve Been Killing Slimes Anime Staff and Studio
The animation quality and storytelling of I’ve Been Killing Slimes played a major role in its success, and much of that is thanks to the talented team behind the series. Unfortunately, Studio Teddy will animate I’ve Been Killing Slimes 2 instead of Revoroot Inc. This new season will be Studio Teddy’s first solo production ever. But they have been responsible for many in-between animations for anime like Chainsaw Man, Dr. Stone, Haikyu!!, and My Hero Academia.
The studio’s previous work showcased smooth animation, bright colors, and beautiful character designs, all of which helped the respective shows. If the aforementioned shows are anything to go by, this new season will be equally as good as the former, if not better.
The light novel was written by Kisetsu Morita, and its first online serialization was in 2016 on the Shosetsuka ni Naro publishing website. Down the line, SB Creative took the series and published it on the GA Novel imprint in January 2017. In June of the same year, a manga adaptation was created by Yusuke Shiba and was published by Square Enix, with 16 volumes released.
With a change in the studio, a couple of staff members are changing. Kunihisa Sugishima replaces Nobukage Kimura as the new director, Naohiro Fukushima replaces Tatsuya Takahashi as the new series compositor, Hikaru Kodama replaces Keisuke Goto as the new character designer, but Keiji Inai returns to handle the music. The opening theme is “So Lucky” by Ogura Yui. The ending theme is “Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe” by Ohnishi Aguri.

In fact, one of the most interesting parts that I’ve Been Killing Slimes offers is its charming cast of characters. The good news is, the entire cast from the first season is back for I’ve Been Killing Slimes 2. So Azusa and her companions feel like their voices and personalities are the same.

The Plot of the Show
The first season of I’ve Been Killing Slimes followed Azusa as she adjusted to her peaceful but unexpected life of adventure. She was reincarnated in another world after her death as an immortal witch. After spending 300 years killing slimes, Azusa maxed out her abilities. Anyone interested in power would see this as a good thing, but Azusa wants a peaceful life.
When she came to this new world, she opened up a farm and lived in the mountains. She was known as the Witch of the Highlands due to her knowledge of medicine by the people of Flatta Village. Her past life of overworking herself literally caused her to die at the age of twenty-seven. After becoming the strongest adventurer in the world, people start coming to challenge her. In some cases, they become friends. She collected a crew of students/maids/daughters, overcame adversity, and became a friend to those around her.
I’ve Been Killing Slimes 2 has more wacky and heartwarming adventures to look forward to as the story continues. The new season introduces characters like Sandra and brings more occupants into the house. It will adapt further chapters from the light novel. This means fans can anticipate new journeys, conflicts, and possibly deeper character development.
One of the biggest questions is whether Azusa will face even stronger opponents, given that she has already maxed out her level. That said, with the series playing up the fun and friendship aspects of it more than the intense battle parts, the real mystery comes in how Azusa and her friends will deal with whatever new situation they find themselves in.
