Specifically, both series contain overpowered figures who draw the fear and envy of others, acting as the pinnacle of strength.
These are Satoru Gojo and Sung Jinwoo. Despite their vastly different roles, both individuals are often the central focus during battle and redefine the meaning of dominance. As a result, a recent heated debate has popped up regarding who better represents “the strongest. Though the term originated in Jujutsu Kaisen, it has transcended the series and found a home in Solo Leveling too. Given Sung Jinwoo’s impressive display of force in recent episodes, valid points are made supporting both characters.

Sung Jinwoo’s Significance in Solo Leveling
Unlike Gojo, whose birth itself turned Jujutsu society upside down, Jinwoo starts as a more regular character. His tale is a classic underdog power fantasy trope, where we see a poor and weak man trying to make ends meet. However, after a near-death experience, he gains the System, allowing him to level up rapidly.
In contrast to the initial challenges faced by Jinwoo, his rise is paired with little struggle. While the world remains chaotic, Jinwoo is a lone warrior who gains the ability to face the celestial threats called the Monarchs. Unlike Gojo, who is deeply woven into Jujutsu Kaisen’s social fabric, Jinwoo never tries to involve himself where unnecessary.
He grows stronger to protect his loved ones, save the world, and ascend beyond humanity altogether. Solo Leveling does not attempt to create too many layers for Jinwoo, as he is simply a hero doing his heroic duties. Once he reaches the peak, he showcases his dominance by putting the vain hunters of his world to shame and completing his objective.
The World’s Reaction to Their Strength
“The strongest” is not a title the character places upon themself but is instead the perception of those around them. As we know, the term itself comes from Jujutsu Kaisen, where Gojo’s allies and enemies alike consider him the strongest in the series.
While they may not know much about his motives or psyche, the rest of the cast fears and reveres Gojo in equal measure. This is why the entire world fell to chaos once Gojo was trapped in the Prison Realm. Soon after, all their efforts were focused on freeing him, as they believed it would set things right again.
It is not an overstatement to say that the plans of both sorcerers and curses revolve around Gojo. Only after deciding how to handle him do they even think about the future. His systemic influence in every area, ranging from politics to battle, is felt by every individual in the world.
In contrast, Sung Jinwoo’s strength is more personal and individualistic. The world acknowledges his power and his role as a protector but does not ultimately revolve around him. Jinwoo does not attempt to do so either, as he simply wishes to beat any threats and live a peaceful life.
He is the strongest in his series, but he does not represent the global tension or narrative stakes as well as Gojo. The sense of isolation and consequence that defines Gojo’s power is largely absent in Jinwoo’s story.
Why Gojo Is the Better Representation of the Strongest

Due to this, even when Gojo died against Sukuna, neither fans nor cast members could believe it. He had become so integral to the story that removing him created a void no one could ever fill.
There still remain debates about the controversial decision of Gojo dying, as many believe he was stronger than Sukuna. The challenges faced by Gojo and his powers, both blessing and curse, add depth to his role. They make him more than just an invincible powerhouse but the perfect fit to represent the world in his series.
Sung Jinwoo’s definition of “the strongest” is a lot more literal. His journey is straightforward, and he goes from a weakling to the most powerful being in his series. His rapid growth is necessary to protect the world, but Solo Leveling simply does not make us as connected to his development. Despite starting as the underdog, Jinwoo is majorly just a cool and overpowered protagonist.
He does not leave as much of an on-screen impact as Gojo, an immensely complex sorcerer. Therefore, Satoru Gojo is the better representation of “the strongest” than Sung Jinwoo.
