The Naruto universe has given us a ton of creative abilities by applying ninja techniques. What makes these intriguing is the fact that the techniques grow along with the characters. As we have seen in the Rasengan’s case, all its users gave it their own unique spin while developing different variants of power.

The Flying Raijin Jutsu, also called the Flying Thunder God Technique, is yet another move that can instantly turn the tide of battle. It is known for its complexity, and there are very few people from the Narutoverse who can use it. So, how many Naruto characters can use Flying Raijin Jutsu?

There are a total of six characters in both Naruto and Boruto who can use the Flying Raijin Jutsu. Let us take a closer look at the technique and its users.

What Is the Flying Raijin Jutsu?

Developed by Tobirama Senju, the Flying Raijin Jutsu is a space-time ninjutsu capable of instantaneous teleportation. By placing a special formula on an object, person, or location, the user goes through a dimensional void to rapidly transport to that location.

In battle, this is particularly effective as it allows the shinobi to directly transport in front of their opponent and land an attack. Even when being attacked, they can rapidly escape to another location. Minato had done this to escape the clutches of Obito’s Kamui.

By applying the right formula at the right place, the Flying Raijin Jutsu can also transport other people and objects to specific locations, though it is extremely complex and technical to pull off.

Who Is the Strongest Flying Raijin Jutsu User?

Despite being developed by Tobirama, the strongest user of Flying Raijin Jutsu in Naruto is Minato Namikaze. Using this technique, he earned his nickname of Konoha’s Yellow Flash and was feared by enemies everywhere.

Minato could use dozens of formulas at the same time while refining them to reduce mana consumption. He had utilized this to famously defeat 1000 shinobi in the Third Great Ninja War and help end it.

Additionally, Minato’s application of the technique was ingenious. He had used the Flying Raijin Jutsu to teleport a Beast Bomb, which had been thought impossible due to its immense power. By combining this with his adaptability in battle, he was able to be an even match to opponents such as Obito and Kurama.

The characters who can use Flying Raijin Jutsu in Naruto and Boruto are:

  • Tobirama Senji
  • Minato Namikaze
  • Fourth Hokage’s Guard Platoon
  • Boruto Uzumaki

Among these, only Tobirama and Minato could perfectly execute the Flying Raijin Jutsu. The Fourth Hokage’s Guard Platoon consisted of Genma, Raido, and Iwashi, and the three had to work together to successfully use the technique.

Boruto’s Flying Raijin Jutsu is inspired by the original one used in Naruto but has notable differences.

How Has Boruto Changed the Flying Raijin Jutsu?

In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Boruto reveals his version of the Flying Raijin Jutsu, which is inspired by his grandfather.

To execute it, Boruto has to use objects such as weapons and accessories with mana conductivity and mark them with his chakra. By doing this, he can transfer to where they are placed during the heat of battle.

However, it is important for the objects Boruto chooses to be distinctive since he could get confused between those of similar shapes. Additionally, Boruto can comfortably transfer to objects within his visibility, but the difficulty increases based on their range of distance.

Since Boruto had learned the technique with just Kashin Koji’s theoretical explanation, he worked hard to make it usable in battle but has not refined it to the level of Minato.

Conclusion

To conclude, Flying Raijin Jutsu is a versatile and powerful technique that can completely change the flow of a battle. Having been used by two of the greatest Shinobis and Naruto and now being carried by the protagonist of Boruto, it has left an indelible mark on the story.

As Boruto: Two Blue Vortex progresses, it will be interesting to see how this technique is further molded and harnessed.
