How powerful is Alluka in Hunter x Hunter? Explore her role in the series as well as her unique strengths and abilities.

Though initially seeming like a cute girl with an adorable relationship with her brother, Alluka possesses one of the most frightening powers in the series. Due to this, fans may wonder exactly how powerful she is in Hunter x Hunter.
Alluka Zoldyck is immensely powerful due to her possession of Nanika, but her strength comes with several pre-existing conditions. Because of this, we cannot measure her abilities in the same manner as other characters. Here is a closer look into this.
Who Is Alluka in Hunter x Hunter?
Alluka Zoldyck is a child of the infamous Zoldyck family, known for producing world-class assassins. Alluka is a feared entity in her family, mainly because of her powers that cannot be controlled. Due to this, she lives a highly restricted life. This is to the extent that some members, such as Illumi, merely see her as a dangerous weapon, not even acknowledging her existence.
In contrast, Killua is the only member of the household who openly expresses his close bond with Alluka. Alluka’s real personality comes out in front of her brother, showcasing her lovable and affectionate nature. She wears her heart on her sleeve, not judging others simply based on appearances. This is the core of her strength as well.
Alluka’s gender is a source of high debate in the fandom. Illumi and Milluki refer to her as their brother, while her official sex has also been mentioned to be male. However, more importantly, Alluka refers to herself as female. Killua, who is the only one Alluka trusts, considers her his sister. Are Alluka and Nanika the Same Person?

However, this is a false notion. Nanika is a mysterious creature from the Dark Continent that came to possess Alluka. While the circumstances of their history are unknown, both Alluka and Nanika share the same body.
In addition, Alluka and Nanika are noted to be distinct individuals, though they display different extremes of a childlike demeanor. They care about each other, and Alluka is shown to be protective of Nanika.
Alluka’s Role in Hunter x Hunter
Alluka’s significant role in Hunter x Hunter is highlighted when Killua attempted to get her help to heal Gon from his near-death condition after he made the ultimate sacrifice to kill Pitou. While she was isolated from her family due to their fear, Killua only showered her with love.
When traveling to Gon’s hospital, they were threatened by Tsubone, Illumi, and other parties aiming for Alluka. However, through Killua’s ingenious use of Nanika’s abilities, they avoided them and reached the protagonist.
Finally, Nanika healed Gon, resulting in a high output of aura. Soon after this, Killua told Nanika not to come out anymore, believing it would be too dangerous. Though dispirited, Nanika complied. This caused Alluka great grief, and she scolded Killua for being mean to Nanika.
Killua, realizing the error in his ways, asked Alluka to bring out Nanika. He apologized to her, resolving to protect both forms of his sister. By the end, Killua parts ways with Gon, heading out to travel the world with Alluka and Nanika.
Alluka’s Strengths and Abilities
Alluka, on her own, has no powers and is just a normal young girl. However, her link to Nanika grants her the unique ability of “Wish Granting.” As the name suggests, this skill allows Nanika to grant the wishes of recipients, no matter how impossible they may seem. It is part of the unending enigmas that come from the Dark Continent. However, Wish Granting has a set of rules to follow. These include:
- A person needs to fulfill three of Alluka’s requests before Nanika takes over her body and grants any one wish.
- The difficulty of Alluka’s requests varies based on the scale of the previous wish granted. Hence, this can range from a simple kiss to death.
- If a person declines or fails to fulfill Alluka’s request four times, at least two people will die. These will be the person themselves and the one they spent the most time with.
- The number of casualties from failed requests depends upon the scale of the last wish granted.
- After the death of the recipient, the severity of Alluka’s requests is reset.
These rules are followed by the Zoldycks and everyone else in the series. However, Killua’s special relationship with Alluka and Nanika gives him one special exemption. In addition to effortlessly being able to avoid the disasters caused by Nanika’s abilities, Killua can command his sister without the need to complete requests. This allows him to order her to perform actions rather than grant wishes.
Is Alluka the Most Powerful Character in Hunter x Hunter?
Determining Alluka’s strength in Hunter x Hunter is a tricky task. Firstly, this is because Alluka herself has no powers, but rather, they are part of Nanika’s abilities. However, since they both share a form, Nanika’s Wish Granting is dependent upon Alluka’s requests.
In addition, Nanika’s powers cannot be used on their own. They are reliant on other parties, granting wishes if requests are completed and killing them if they fail. Therefore, Alluka has no control over the function of the ability.
