Check out the complete roster of players removed from NBA 2K25, despite appearing in the last game. Some of these may surprise you.
Several stars who appeared in the previous NBA 2K game have been removed from the franchise’s latest iteration. This includes former NBA legends as well as regular players whose likeness 2K can’t legally use anymore.
NBA 2K removes players from the roster for a variety of reasons. For instance, the company loses their rights to use a player’s likeness in the game if they retire or pass away. Sometimes, the player may not have come to an agreement regarding the use of their likeness. In this case, 2K can’t legally feature them in their game.
In this article, we’ve compiled a list of players who were present in NBA 2K24 but have been removed from NBA 2K25.
NBA 2K25 Removed Players List
Here’s the list of players who won’t be appearing in NBA 2K25:
- Andre Iguodala: A renowned defensive player, Iguodala was dropped from the franchise due to his retirement. Iguodala won four NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors. He was also named the NBA Finals Most Valuable Player in 2015.
- Bill Russell: Russell’s death means that 2K can no longer use his likeness. You could acquire two highly-rated Russell cards in NBA 2K24: a 99 OVR Dark Matter and a 90 OVR Amethyst. Russell was a basketball legend who led the Boston Celtics to eleven championships in thirteen seasons.
- Blake Griffin: You can no longer find this Los Angeles Clippers star in NBA 2K25 as he has retired. The skilled Power Forward had a Dark Matter card with 99 OVR and a Galaxy Opal card with 98 OVR.
- Goran Dragic: You won’t be able to get this All-Star Point Guard player in NBA 2K25 as he retired from professional basketball back in December 2023. He is best known for his time with the Miami Heat (2015-2021), during which the team advanced to the NBA Finals in 2020.
- John Wall: Like most other players on this list, John Wall is also missing from NBA 2K25 due to his retirement. This means that you can no longer have Bradley Beal and John Wall together when playing as Washington Wizards.
- Nerlens Noel: Noel may not be as legendary as most of the other players on this list, but you could upgrade his Attributes in previous games. NBA 2K25 has decided not to include the free agent.
- Serge Ibaka: You might know Ibaka in NBA for his tenure in Oklahoma City Thunder. However, since his transfer to the Liga ACB, NBA can no longer use his likeness.
