Starfield Shattered Space will be a smoother experience if you decide to play with an existing character with the necessary upgrades.
Starfield Shattered Space will take players to a brand new planet where they will encounter interesting characters, explore cosmic locations, and complete a bunch of quests. The DLC will operate separately from the main story quest, so you may wonder if you should go ahead with creating a new character. We recommend not creating a new character for the Shattered Space DLC, and we will explain why below.
An Existing Character Will Make Your Journey Easier in Shattered Space
A new character will reset your stats and bring you down to Level 0 in the game. While Bethesda has not confirmed the level requirements for the DLC, a quick review of the level requirements for their previous DLCs hint that the number could lie anywhere between 10 and 30.
Skyrim’s Dawnguard DLC requires players to be at a minimum of Level 10 to begin the expansion. In a similar vein, it is recommended that players reach Level 20 before they begin Fallout 4 Far Harbor. They can attempt it earlier, but the experience would likely be unbalanced.
While playing Starfield’s Shattered Space DLC, you may benefit from having some prior experience and upgrades. Making a new character would put you at Level 0, and you may end up finding Shattered Space to be quite difficult.
Furthermore, we recommend tackling Andreja’s companion quest, “Divided Loyalties”, before you play the DLC. Andreja is from House Va’ruun, the House that will play a key role in Shattered Space. You unlock the quest after completing the “Into The Unknown” main story quest.
Completing Andreja’s companion quest will help you learn about the House and their home planet. You will be able to transition into the DLC seamlessly from there.
Starfield Shattered Space is set to release on September 30, 2024. It follows the story of House Var’uun and takes place in the city of Dazra on Va’ruun’kai. The Shattered Space DLC will be available on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
