Popular Twitch streamer and World of Warcraft veteran Asmongold has shared his reasons on not playing WoW anymore.
Popular World of Warcraft player and Twitch streamer Zack “Asmongold” has stated that he finds World of Warcraft boring. During a livestream, Asmongold was reacting to a video by Madskillzzhc titled ‘Exposing The Botting Mafia in World of Warcraft’. A viewer on the stream asked Zack why he does not play WoW anymore, to which the 34-year-old responded that he finds the game weird and boring.
“It’s because the game’s f**king boring! The game’s boring and it’s weird. I don’t really play the game anymore because I don’t really feel like there’s anything for me to do in the game that’s fulfilling. Now, I might change my mind in the future and feel differently about it.”
Asmongold has been creating WoW content for over 16 years. One of his first YouTube videos is when his mom played the game and hit level 60. Zack supposedly started playing the Blizzard MMORPG in 2006. Throughout his career, Asmon has been both a critic and advocate of WoW, offering insights on various expansions and game changes including his reaction to the 20-year anniversary event. The streamer also mentioned a lack of motivation as a reason for not playing the game.
“But right now, I don’t really see any form of motivation for me to play WoW. I just don’t want to do it. Now, again, this could change. It could definitely change. ‘Would you play Classic+?’ Probably, yeah, but at the end of the day, I’m just trying to do what I feel like doing and that’s it.”
Asmongold was also asked about why he did not join the OnlyFangs hardcore guild. For those unaware, OnlyFangs is a WoW Classic Hardcore guild established by popular streamer Sodapoppin. Earlier this year, Soda mentioned that Asmon did not want to play in the guild because he would have viewers spamming and swarming him. Soda also called out Asmon for his reasoning and mentioned that it was not a great excuse. Asmon however mentioned his reason in a recent stream:
“With Hardcore WoW, which is the main thing that people really want me to do because of OnlyFangs etcetera… I don’t like playing games that I have to focus in. Like, you guys might not know this, most of the time, I’m totally spaced out.”

Zack considers himself as one of the main people making WoW content and that the viewers would want to see whether he plays the game or not. Zack also mentioned that the real reason behind not playing the game is that he has done it all before.
“I was one of the main people to make content about WoW. So, it would make sense that a lot of people would want to see whether I’m playing the game or not. But, the real reason why I don’t have a lot of interest in playing it is just simply because I just feel like I’ve done it before.”
Asmongold has repeatedly took a break from WoW throughout the years. He returned to WoW for Hardcore Classic in November 2023 after a new game mode was announced at BlizzCon. His comeback delighted viewers, with many joining his game and causing server-wide lag.

With the announcement of Classic + at Blizzcon, @Asmongold fulfilled his promise to play Hardcore Classic.

Earlier this year, during a stream, Asmongold reminisced about playing World of Warcraft with his friends and his mom. The streamer had also previously mentioned that at one point in his life, he wanted to end his life but forgot about the idea after a WoW expansion was released. Zack also mentioned that he would give up everything to relive the old glory days of WoW.
