Assassin’s Creed Shadows Claws of Awaji DLC: Prison Break Quest Walkthrough

Players will play as both Yasuke and Naoe during the Prison Break quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows Claws of Awaji DLC, and make their escape from Sumoto Castle after rescuing Tsuyu. It is the fourth mission in the DLC and gives gamers a challenge mixed with stealth segments, combat encounters, and a boss battle. In this guide, we will give you a comprehensive walkthrough and all the details of the quest.

Prison Break Quest Walkthrough in Assassin’s Creed Shadows Claws of Awaji DLC

Once you complete the Not Alone in this World mission and reach Sumoto Castle through the secret passage, you will find a ladder in front of you. Climb it to go upward and then head northeast. Eventually, you will come across a door. Beyond it will be some enemies, so go through it and take care of the guards there.

After that, move forward to find the next door. Open it to find Naoe and Tsuyu, who got captured during the Reunion mission. Now, the POV will switch to Naoe, and you will have to play as her to find her gear. After the cutscene, take the rope in front of you to reach the rooftop on the other side. You will find a small window on the roof; go through it to enter the room below.

Stay alert as there will be guards inside. Wait for a bit, and the guard will leave his position. Then, simply go to the next room and collect Naoe’s lost gear.

Secure the Area

Once you get Naoe her gear back, the objective will change to securing the area. To complete it, you will have to kill guards until the blue meter on the top left corner is full. There is no linear method to do this. You will have to use stealth and parkour to move around, find isolated enemies, and kill them.

After you have eliminated enough guards and the meter is filled, make your way toward the large building door. Open it to let both of your companions in, and then follow Yasuke and Tsuyu. Help him open the gate at the very end of the path. This action will then trigger a cutscene. Once it ends, you will have to take on waves of enemies as Yasuke to protect Naoe and the other shinobi.

Keep the Guards Away From Naoe

As mentioned, your job now is to simply eliminate the enemies the game throws at you. This will be a direct confrontation since you will be utilizing Yasuke. You can use any of his melee weapons to kill the guards, including long katana, kanabo, naginata, etc. We recommend avoiding the ranged arms, such as the long bow or the teppo, since the encounter will be in close quarters. However, you can use anything you like.

Follow Tsuyu and Get to the Platform

After killing enough guards, you will regain control of Naoe. Now simply follow Tsuyu and be as sneaky as possible. There will be a lot of bushes in the area, so you will not have any shortage of cover. While staying in the first bush, wait for Tsuyu’s signal and then take out the guards.

Move on to the next bush and wait for the enemy to come to you. Once in proximity, kill the guard and continue forward. After that, you will come across two guards standing at the entrance. If you have the Tanto equipped, you will be able to perform a double assassination and take out both enemies at once. Then, climb up the wall, reach the objective marker, and interact with the “Lower Platform” option.

Defend Naoe

Once the brief cutscene is over, you will have to defend Naoe while she lowers the platform for Yasuke. This means you will face more waves of enemies as the Samurai once again. This time around, you will have more use for ranged weapons such as the longbow and teppo, and you can use them to shoot at the explosives scattered around the area at the right time to kill multiple guards at once. Do not worry; there will be enough ammo around for a refill.

But the fight does not end there, as you will also have to deal with close-range combat. For that, whip out your melee weapons again and start breaking some bones. You will have to keep fighting and defeating enemies until the meter on the upper left side is full and Naoe has successfully lowered the platform for Yasuke. Once it is done, leap over to the other side of the platform and reunite with your ally at the entrance toward the southeast.

Survive Against Tomeji

On the other side of the platform, you will come across an open area where you will have to confront Tomeji in a boss battle. The fight against the tanky Tomeji is similar to other boss fights in the game. His armor is quite thick, so naturally, this enemy is spongy. It might take you a while to completely strip him of his armor. Once it is broken, he will be more vulnerable to your attacks.

You will have to dodge and parry his attacks to avoid damage and then strike him whenever he gives you an opening. Furthermore, you can do additional damage with your weapon abilities. Keep repeating this process until Tomeji’s health bar reaches 30% and triggers a cutscene.

Escape Sumoto Castle

Once the cutscene is over, pick up the injured Tsuyu as Yasuke and make your escape with Naoe. Head northeast as quickly as possible while taking cover from arrows coming at you. This segment requires timing and patience, as you will have to wait for the attacks to end before you move forward toward the exit.

After reaching the horses at the exit, Yasuke, Naoe, and Tsuyu will make their escape from Sumoto Castle during another cutscene. You will get different prompts here to choose from, but the outcome will be the same. At last, this will be the end of the Prison Break quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows Claws of Awaji DLC.
