Gaining XP in Clair Obscur Expedition 33 isn’t particularly difficult, thanks to the game’s souls-like approach to progression. Similar to games like Elden Ring, Dark Souls, Lies of P, and others, resting at a checkpoint in Expedition 33 will respawn all enemies in the vicinity, except for the bosses. As such, you can easily overlevel your “Expeditioners” simply by fighting enemies repeatedly.

However, as you progress through the endgame, the cost of leveling up increases substantially. After a certain point, you will need millions of XP just to level up once. For instance, to go from Level 86 to 87, you’ll need roughly 9 million XP, which isn’t easy to obtain.

Most enemies, even in the endgame, drop somewhere between 200,000 to 500,000 XP. However, some enemies can net you over 1 million XP in a single kill. And the best part is, you can farm these enemies endlessly to easily reach Level 99. Unfortunately, these “special” enemies are confined to an optional dungeon that’s not accessible until much later in Act 3. Here’s a comprehensive guide to the best XP farm in Clair Obscur Expedition 33.

Where To Find the Best XP Farm in Clair Obscur Expedition 33?

There are essentially two excellent XP farming locations in the endgame of Clair Obscur Expedition 33. The first is Renoir’s Drafts, where you get to fight Simon, and the second location is the Dark Shores. While Renoir’s Drafts offers a better overall XP payout, it features enemies with incredibly large health pools.

During our testing, we found that the Dark Shores is a much better option, especially if you haven’t reached Level 90 or don’t have access to a Level 33 weapon. Killing the enemies in the Dark Shores nets you roughly 700,000 XP per run. However, there’s one mob in this area that you can kill for a whopping 1.2 million XP.

Furthermore, the enemies here aren’t nearly as tough as the ones in Renoir’s Drafts. The enemies in the Dark Shores are called Noir and are mostly restricted to this single area. There are only two more instances of Noir on the Continent, but those variants don’t reward enough XP to make them worthwhile. There are a total of three groups of Noirs in the Dark Shores. Two of these groups consist of just two enemies, and killing them nets you roughly 750,000 XP each.

However, there’s also a group with three Noirs that you can kill for approximately 1.25 million XP. Moreover, this area has a single resting point and no elevation.

You can easily reset the mobs in the Dark Shores and kill them repeatedly without having to do long runbacks or sit through multiple loading screens. The only requirement for this process is that you have access to a build powerful enough to dispatch the Noirs quickly to make this farm viable. This is where Maelle’s one-shot build comes into play.

You can follow our dedicated guide to craft the one-shot build for Maelle, which is essential for efficiently using this XP farm. Once you have the build ready, simply use your party in the order: Verso > Sciel > Maelle. Make sure to have First Strike equipped on Verso; this way, initiating the encounter against the Noirs will always allow you to start with your turn first. At the beginning of your turn, use Powerful as Verso, followed by Phantom Stars (make sure you’re using Chevalam for instant S Rank Perfection).

After that, use Sciel to apply All Set and follow it up with a base attack. Once you switch over to Maelle, immediately use Phantom Strike to kill all the enemies.

Repeat this process for all three mobs to net you roughly 3 million XP per run. Using this method and farming route, you can easily reach Level 99 with your active party members in no time.
