The Enhanced Gaping Jaw is easily the most challenging boss in Elden Ring Nightreign’s base game as of right now. Not only does the boss offer a significantly higher level of difficulty compared to its regular counterpart, but it also comes with new movesets that can easily catch new players off guard. Compared to the regular Gaping Jaw, the empowered variant has significantly more HP, affinity resistance, and agility. Furthermore, it also has access to a whole new third phase, which includes a special gimmick and a new “one-shot” combo.

Suffice it to say, the Enhanced Gaping Jaw is a force to be reckoned with. That is, unless you’re using what is arguably the most powerful Ironeye build in the game. Here’s a comprehensive guide on the best Ironeye build for the Enhanced Gaping Jaw in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Ironeye is arguably one of the most overpowered Nightfarers in Elden Ring Nightreign. This is simply due to the fact that Ironeye has rather impressive Dexterity and Arcane scaling. Additionally, since the class is adept with Bows and can dish out consistent damage, it makes an ideal choice for almost any of the Expeditions. For the Enhanced Gaping Jaw in particular, Ironeye works incredibly well, as it can constantly apply debuffs on the Nightlord while also staying far from harm’s way. Additionally, with Ironeye, you get not one but two ways to completely negate incoming damage: Character Skill and Ultimate Art.

While most Nightfarers only have i-frames for their Ultimate Art, Ironeye gets invincibility for both its Character Skill and Ultimate Art. The Character Skill, Marking, in particular, is an incredibly powerful ability that helps a ton against the Enhanced Gaping Jaw. With a Poison Bow and Ironeye, you can essentially keep the Nightlord poisoned at all times. Given that Poison is the primary weakness of the Gaping Jaw, it vastly reduces the Nightlord’s agility as well as defenses.

Thankfully, you don’t even need to meddle with the game’s RNG systems for a Poison Relic. You can get a guaranteed Poison Relic by defeating the Sentient Pest.

Here are some tips that will help you properly use the best Ironeye build against the Enhanced Gaping Jaw:

  • As an Ironeye, your primary objective is to deal consistent Poison damage to the boss. While doing so, make sure you are staying far away from the Nightlord. Much like the Duchess, Recluse, and the Executor, Ironeye is quite squishy and can easily get one-shotted by the boss.
  • In the first phase of the fight, you need to keep your eye on two things: Gaping Jaw’s ground slam attack and grab. Both of these attacks are easy to avoid and also good opportunities for Ironeye to dish out affinity damage.
  • Once the boss starts summoning tornadoes, make sure to jump into the eye as soon as possible. Poisoning the Nightlord in this phase is really important. If you have melee characters in your group, make sure to keep an eye on them as well in case they fall down.
  • Make sure you’re not spamming your Ultimate and Character Skill. Instead, use these either to revive allies or as a means to get away from Gaping Jaw’s combos. Additionally, regularly apply the mark on the boss for bonus damage.

Additional Notes

If you cannot get the Poison Relic, you can also use Frost as a replacement. However, we highly recommend using Poison, as it is the most effective affinity against the Gaping Jaw.
