With Borderlands 4, you can equip and modify your action skills based on the skill tree you are looking to build.
In this article, we will explore the Skill Tree in Borderlands 4.
Skill Tree Overview in Borderlands 4

Each character in Borderlands 4 comes with their own set of three main skill trees. It is around these that their entire build and play style theme is set. You have the choice to decide which skills you would like to give more priority to. What helps more is the fact that you are not locked by a single tree and can mix and match strategies to unlock the stronger Capstones and the most efficient build.
Let us look at the characters and their skill trees in Borderlands 4.
Borderlands 4 Characters | Skill Trees |
---|---|
Vex | The Fourth Seal Vexcalation Here Comes Trouble |
Amon | Calamity Vengeance Cybernetics |
Rafa | People Person Remote Agent This Year’s Gimmick |
Harlowe | Creative Bursts Seize The Day Cosmic Brilliance |
How To Use Skill Points
As you continue to level up your character, you will earn skill points, which you can use to upgrade your passive abilities or other action skills. To further progress down the skill tree, you will need to invest five points to unlock the following tier. It is also important to note that you do not need to keep selecting skills further within the same tier to unlock the next ones. For instance, by investing 15 points within the first-tier skills themselves, you can unlock the tier three skills.
As you progress down a skill tree, you will automatically unlock the Capstone ability, which acts as a game-changer. These provide more personality to the builds, changing the overall behaviour of the action skills and giving you unique play styles. You can only equip one Augment and Capstone to an action skill.
