YouTuber David Dobrik returned to the platform after a 34-month hiatus and showed off his body transformation.
After a 34-month hiatus, David Dobrik returned to YouTube and posted a video titled “SURPRISING FRIENDS WITH BODY TRANSFORMATION!” The video gained over 1.4 million views in seven hours.
In the new video, Dobrik talked about his fitness journey and his trip to see the “seven wonders of the world.” Ilya Fredrovich, who was a regular member of Dobrik’s vlogs, trained the YouTuber.
The YouTuber revealed that Ilya won a car from James “MrBeast” Donaldson for helping with his fitness journey. At the end of the video, MrBeast appeared and presented Ilya with a Lamborghini.
David Dobrik Transformed His Body Due to a Bet With MrBeast
Dobrik revealed in his YouTube video that he underwent the body transformation due to a bet. MrBeast explained the wager in the video saying:
“We bet, this is at the start of the year, that if he didn’t get jacked, he would have to buy 20,000 Feastables bars.”
David Dobrik told Ilya:
“If I did get jacked? Jimmy would have to get you a car.”
Ilya did not know about the challenge and was surprised to see MrBeast. At the end of the video, MrBeast unveiled a Feastables chocolate-branded Lamborghini and presented it to Ilya. It was Dobrik’s first video in 34 months, but the YouTuber did not reveal if he will return to his regular vlog schedule following the hiatus.
Why Was Dobrik Away From YouTube?
Before his return to YouTube in January 2025, David Dobrik posted his last video on March 30, 2022. The YouTuber never explicitly mentioned why he took a break from the platform. However, during his absence, he opened a pizza chain called “Doughbrik’s” in November 2022.
Dobrik remained active on Snapchat and Instagram despite not posting any new videos on YouTube. His viewers speculated that Dobrik was away due to a fight with Jeff Wittek, who was a core “Vlog Squad” member.
In June 2022, Wittek filed a lawsuit against Dobrik for $10 million in damages. Dobrik injured Wittek in an accident while recording a video, which led to the lawsuit and the two content creators falling apart. Since the controversy, Jeff Wittek discussed the controversy multiple times and called his former friend a “motherf*cker” in a podcast with Logan Paul.
Another former Vlog Squad member, Dominykas ‘Durte Dom’ Zeglaitis, was accused of s*xual assault. Dobrik addressed the allegations in his video titled ‘03/22/21’ and temporarily stepped down from the platform. The YouTuber claimed he was demonetized and lost multiple sponsorships due to the controversy. His audience criticized the apology video, with many commenting that Dobrik did not take enough accountability.
