Days Gone Remastered was announced recently due to mixed reactions from fans. Find out whether it’s worth picking up this remaster on release.

Bend Studio, the developer behind the popular game Days Gone, recently announced that they would release a remastered version of the game for PS5. While the revelation received mixed reactions from fans, it does present an opportunity for PS5 owners to get their hands on a graphically improved version of the title.
The remastered version is set to arrive on the new PlayStation consoles on April 25, 2025. Here, we’ll explain what Days Gone Remastered offers to players and whether you should get this newer version or not.
What’s New in Days Gone Remastered?

The announcement of the remaster revealed that the new version will include support for VRR and the advanced capabilities of the PS5 Pro consoles. So, you can expect smoother frame rates and crisper image quality when the edition launches.
However, the real draw for many would be the diverse range of new gameplay modes that the remastered version will introduce. For instance, you will be able to turn on Permadeath Mode, where you’ll have to restart the campaign from scratch if you die even once.
The Horde Assault mode is another addition, where you will face off against endless hordes of infected, and your only goal is to survive for as long as possible. Lastly, the Speedrun game mode will challenge players to finish the campaign as quickly as possible.
Apart from all of these added modes, the remastered version will also include additional features, such as an enhanced photo mode. With the new photo mode, you can customize your shots in greater depth to take better pictures. The remaster also promises some accessibility options, including UI narration.

Days Gone Remastered: Price and Upgrade Options

If you own the PS4 version of Days Gone, you’ll be able to upgrade to the remastered version by paying $10. However, if you’ve never owned the original game on console, you can buy the remastered edition for $49.99. Pre-orders are now live, and buying the version now will give you access to five early-game unlocks.
Should You Buy Days Gone Remastered?

If you have never played Days Gone either on PS4 or PC, we’d suggest picking up the remastered version on PS5. This edition will likely enhance the overall gameplay experience by offering better image quality. However, if you’ve already played through the game, spending money to unlock a few game modes might not be the right move.
The remastered version does not provide any new content or expand on the base story. So, if you aren’t a hardcore gamer looking to push yourself difficulty-wise, the new game modes don’t add much. You can wait for the remastered version to go on discount sometime after launch before picking it up.
