Fistful of Dollars is one of the tougher challenges in Dead Rails, not because of endless monsters or scary bosses, but because you can’t make any money. The moment you sell anything, you fail the run. That means no buying coal, bandages, or ammo.
Here’s how the challenge works, how to get through it, and which classes make it easier.
What Is the Fistful of Dollars Challenge in Dead Rails Roblox?
The challenge is simple: complete a full run without selling anything. That means no cash from loot, no shops, and no convenience. If you finish the run under these conditions, you’ll earn:
- 30 Bonds
- 9 Stars
It sounds easy in theory, but with no money, you’ll need to play smart from the very start.
Best Classes for This Challenge
You’ll want to use a class that either starts with resources or can move fast without spending anything.
- Miner: Starts with two coal, enough to get your train moving early on. Probably the best pick for this challenge.
- Cowboy: Spawns with a horse, so you can quickly loot structures for fuel and guns.
- Vampire: Great mobility at night, and doesn’t rely on weapons, but risky with no bandages or healing.
- Werewolf: Another fast class at night. Can cover distance fast, but is weak during the day.
- Necromancer / Packmaster: Spawn minions to fight for you. Great for saving ammo and staying safe.
Avoid classes that rely on gear or can’t fight back without buying upgrades.
How To Survive Without Money in the Fistful of Dollars Challenge
Fuel Strategy
No money means no buying coal. Your fuel must come from loot. Grab every piece of coal, newspaper, or flammable item you find. Structures like furniture stores, mineshafts, and doctor’s offices often have fuel or healing supplies.
- Newspapers are surprisingly useful for barricading your train.
- Some enemies drop coal; fight them on safe ground to collect it.
- Ore rocks can spawn randomly and drop coal when mined.
- Use fort turrets to kill enemies for fuel safely.
Ammo and Weapons
You can’t buy guns or bullets, so you’ll need to scavenge everything.
- Sheriff buildings and gunsmiths are the best loot spots.
- If you have a melee-focused class like Vampire, rely on melee early on.
- Once you find a revolver or rifle, you can start fighting safely from range.
- Outlaw camps often have weapons and ammo lying around.
- Use turrets at forts or the safe zone to take out enemies without wasting ammo.
Defense and Healing
Without cash, you can’t buy metal plates or bandages.
- Barricade your train with newspapers and furniture.
- Loot doctor’s offices for healing items.
- Avoid enemy-filled areas like the Castle unless you’re confident in your gear.
- Don’t risk taking hits early. Every bit of health matters when you can’t buy it back.
How To Finish the Challenge
Play cautiously and keep collecting fuel and ammo as you progress. Once you’ve stocked up on supplies and have a reliable weapon, head toward the 80 km mark. Try to arrive near the final outpost before 5:00 AM in-game time.
- Stay on top of your train at night to kite zombies.
- If you’re low on fuel, hold your ground and farm enemies for drops.
- Keep your distance in the final fight and use cover like the bridge to avoid bullets.
- Take out all remaining enemies, turn the crank, and you’re done.
Once the run ends and you haven’t sold anything, the challenge completes automatically, and you’ll get your rewards.
