Destiny 2 relies heavily on timed updates and new content. This is why you might often come across content that seems incomplete. In most cases, this just means that you’ll have to wait for the developers to release the next update to continue your quest. Something similar happened for the Dyadic Ascension quest in Act 1 of Episode Heresy.
Many players reported that they could get past a certain point in this quest. However, with the release of Act 2 of Heresy, you can now complete the quest and get your hands on the intrinsic upgrade for the Barrow-Dyad exotic submachine gun. In this guide, we’ll explain how you complete the Dyadic Ascension quest in Destiny 2.
How To Complete the Dyadic Ascension Quest in Destiny 2?
The quest involves a lot of back and forth to get Taken Osseous Fragments hidden throughout the nether. However, there is an easier way to get it done without it feeling like too much of a grind. Follow the steps mentioned below.
- Step 1: Get to Rank 9 with the Shaping Slab. This can involve a bit of a grind, but make sure you’re at this level before proceeding to the next step.
- Step 2: Collect the 6 hidden Taken Osseous Fragments in the Nether’s Hall of Souls area.
- Step 3: Collect another 6 Taken Osseous Fragments from the Mausoleum area of the Nether.
- Step 4: Collect the remaining 6 Taken Osseous Fragments hidden in the Trenchway area of the Nether.
- Step 4: Get to Rank 12 with the Shaping Slab.
- Step 5: After the release of Act 2 of Heresy, you can now unlock the Moment of Clarity by reaching Level 12. The shaping slab upgrade unlocks from the Path of Resolve.
- Step 6: The quest will then direct you to complete a run of The Nether on expert difficulty. If you’ve already done this previously, the quest will auto-complete when you claim the Moment of Clarity upgrade.

Was the Quest Time-Gated?
Yes, the Dyadic Ascension quest was time-gated. Act 2 of Episode Heresy released on March 11. Before the update dropped, players were left scratching their heads trying to complete the Dyadic Ascension quest in Destiny 2.
Step 5 of the quest simply involved unlocking the Moment of Clarity upgrade from the Shaping Slab, without any apparent clue about how to do so. The game didn’t do a great job explaining that the remainder of the quest was time-gated. This caused a lot of confusion, with many not realizing that the only way to complete this quest would be to wait for the release of Act 2.
