With The Edge of Fate DLC, Destiny 2 brings forth a multitude of new game mechanics, a brand new location called Kepler, and tons of new missions to complete. One of these missions is titled Fallow. You can access it once you are far enough through the questline, The Central Academy Stragelet. Throughout this mission, players will need to employ their new Matterspark ability to fight against the Vex.

However, the mission also involves a tricky boss fight with the Devastator Mind. Initially, you’re likely to feel lost when facing off against this particular foe. In the following guide, we’ll explore how you can complete the Fallow mission in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate, including defeating the Devastator Mind.

The quest begins with you on a train. As soon as you get off, you’ll discover a blocked door into a room with a few Vex enemies. To get into that room, you’ll need to use your Matterspark ability. This is a brand new ability that The Edge of Fate expansion introduces into the game. To trigger this ability, you’ll need to find and interact with a blue glowing orb. As soon as you do, you’ll shrink in size, and you’ll be able to fit through smaller spaces temporarily. With Matterspark active, find a vent inside the room and move through it to access the room beyond with the Vex inside. Defeat all of them and keep moving forward until you reach the first puzzle.

An Uplifted Choral Minotaur will spawn in the room with the puzzle. Simply slay it to make a Vex cube appear. Shoot at the cube to open the way forward. As you move on, you’ll discover another vent. To access it, find and interact with the Matterspark once more. Inside the vent will be another Vex cube that you’ll have to destroy to proceed.

Soon, you will reach an area where your primary goal will be to Preserve the Aionian Food Supply. Basically, all you’ll need to do is take down the three Uplifted Choral Minotaurs in the room and then shoot the Vex cubes above each of their heads. Completing this part will ensure that the food caches are transmitted and a Rally Banner will spawn in the middle of the room. This also triggers the Devastator Mind boss battle.

How To Beat the Devastator Mind Boss

Completing the Fallow mission in Destiny 2 The Edge of Fate will require you to slay the Devastator Mind boss. Initially, this fight doesn’t seem all that difficult. You will slowly chip away at the enemy’s health bar. However, once you deal enough damage to drain a third of its HP, the boss will shield itself. None of your subsequent attacks will deal damage. And you might not see any immediate way of taking down its shield. Here’s what you need to do.

  • Step 1: After Devastator Mind shields up, head to the right side of the arena and take down the Uplifted Choral Minotaur that spawns. Shoot and destroy its Vex cube.

  • Step 2: Return to the middle of the room to grab the Matterspark and then go back to where you killed the Uplifted Choral Minotaur. Look down, and you’ll spot a small, vent-like hole in the ground.

  • Step 3: Enter this tunnel, and when you pop back out on the other side, you’ll find a shield generator. Destroy it.

  • Step 4: Return to the Devastator Mind boss fight now. You can once more deal damage to the boss and slowly eat away at another third of its health. Once that’s done, the boss will shield itself once more.

  • Step 5: To start the final phase of the fight, head to the left side of the arena and repeat Steps 1 through 3 again. This will take down the boss’s final shield.

  • Step 6: Return and fight the Devastator Mind one last time to finally slay it.

After the battle is complete, you can interact with the terminal right ahead to finish the Fallow mission.
