Destiny 2 features a plethora of game modes, all of which serve the purpose of testing your ever-expanding skill set in the game. While most of these game modes put you in PvE scenarios, the Trials of Osiris is a game mode that throws you straight into the deep end against other players. The game mode is a true test of skill, throwing you into frantic scenarios that may turn away PvE players. But even if you are a PvE player, we recommend giving this game mode a shot, as it features a plethora of lucrative rewards that you absolutely need to get.

Since PvP is a different ball game altogether, our guide is here to help you figure out the intricacies of the Trials of Osiris mode in Destiny 2. In this guide, we shall go over the Trials of Osiris game mode in Destiny 2 and everything you should know about it.

How To Play Trials of Osiris Mode

The Trials of Osiris is a weekly 3v3 PvP game mode that pits you and two other players against a team of three in Elimination. This game mode is only available on weekends, starting at 10:00 AM Pacific on Friday till the weekly reset on Tuesday.

Unlocking the Trials of Osiris

However, before you get to play this mode, you first need to unlock it. Head over to the Tower and take the first left leading to the Hangar. Find Saint-14 in the Hangar and talk to him to obtain the “Trials Access” quest, after which you unlock the game mode.

Once your quest is complete, head back to Saint-14 and talk to him to purchase a Trials Passage. There are different Passages to choose from, all of which offer different perks, rewards, and much more. For instance, one of the Passages forgives a loss, letting you run through the Trials flawlessly. Experiment around with the Passages and pick the one that suits you best.

Playing the Trials of Osiris

Once you have the Passage you desire, it is time to play the Trials of Osiris. As we mentioned earlier, the Trials of Osiris is a 3v3 elimination mode, where the last team standing wins. There are no respawns, and you have to revive downed teammates. The game mode is a true test of skill, befitting of a trial of this magnitude.

Your wins in the Trials of Osiris are tracked on the Passage you purchase. Your Passage is littered with Drop Checkpoints. Crossing one of these checkpoints rewards you with loot, and the loot changes weekly, incentivizing regular logins. The first of these drops comes after three wins, the next after five, and the third after maxing out the Passage at seven wins.

Completing matches in the Passage earns you Trials Tokens. You earn Trials Tokens by simply playing the Trials of Osiris, regardless of whether you win or lose. Take these tokens back to Saint-14 to earn drops and rewards.

Take note that these drops and rewards are determined by your performance in the Trials of Osiris. If you only managed to cross the first Drop Checkpoint in the Trials, you will earn a reward corresponding to that checkpoint. Therefore, if you run the Trials flawlessly, you can get all the Drop Checkpoint rewards in exchange for the tokens.

Furthermore, if you’re using the Lighthouse Passage, maxing out with seven wins takes you to the Lighthouse. The Lighthouse can be found in the Crucible menu near the Trials playlist. The Lighthouse is a unique location that holds a big chest. The rewards in this chest include Ascendant Shards, Adept weapon mods, Trials weapons, high-tier Trials armor, and more.

Previously, this location could only be accessed by running the Trials flawlessly. Now, you can visit the Lighthouse by just maxing out the Lighthouse Passage with seven wins. Even with the new change, players on a winning streak hold a higher chance of getting Adept weapons, enhanced materials, and Flawless Emblems, among other rewards.
