Destiny 2’s Episode Heresy is out and has brought with it a plethora of highly anticipated content. This new content includes the Sundered Doctrine dungeon, new quests, and tons of new weapons. Among these new weapons, the Unloved hand cannon has been getting a lot of love from players and is considered by many to be one of the best new weapons to use.
The Unloved Hand Cannon boasts a Heavy-Burst Framed Archetype, making this weapon a ruthless killing machine at mid to close ranges. The Unloved is also a Strand-type weapon, making it the first of such among the hand cannons. If you’re a hand cannon enthusiast, or simply like shredding through enemies with ease, this is a weapon you absolutely need.
The weapon also has various PvE and PvP God Rolls that you have to keep in mind, which we shall discuss below. In this guide, we shall go over the Unloved weapon in Destiny 2 and how to get it. We will also take a look at its PvP/PvE God Rolls.
How To Get Unloved in Destiny 2
Getting the Unloved hand cannon is fairly easy and requires you to run through the new Sundered Doctrine dungeon. Run through the dungeon, and you have the chance of getting the weapon from a loot chest after beating the first or the final boss. One of these encounters has a chance to give you the hand cannon, so farm the encounters as many times as you can till you get the weapon.
Unloved PvE & PvP God Roll Guide
PvE God Roll

Barrel | Polygonal Rifling |
Magazine | Appended Mag |
Trait 1 | Dragonfly |
Trait 2 | Frenzy |
Masterwork | Stability |
You can use any of the following perks for PvE as you see fit:
- Flared Magwell to increase reload speed and Stability.
- Dragonfly for the Strand explosion, which improves AOE potential.
- Frenzy for improved handling and reload speed.
- Paracausal Affinity for a 20 percent damage boost.
The weapon has a painfully slow reload speed, so if that bothers you, pick any of the perks that negate the reload issues. We recommend running this weapon with the Polygonal Rifling for improved stability. Pair this up with the with the Apprehended Mag to prevent frequent reloads by increasing the magazine size.
PvP God Roll

Barrel | Arrowhead Brake/Extended Barrel |
Magazine | Appended Mag/Ricochet Rounds |
Trait 1 | Rapid Hit |
Trait 2 | Kill Clip |
Masterwork | Stability |
While the weapon shines in PvE, it is less than stellar when it comes to PvP. Still, if you wish to try your luck, we recommend any of the following perks for PvP:
- Rapid Hit helps you increase the reload speed, negating any disadvantage in a PvP scenario.
- The Rapid Hit syncs well with the Kill Clip, which boosts damage after reloading on kill.
- Ricochet Rounds increase your Range and Stability.
Hand cannons are not exactly meta when it comes to PvP, and the Unloved is no exception. Still, the perks mentioned above should keep things fairly balanced, allowing you to go on a killing spree.
