Destiny 2’s latest expansion, Episode Heresy, has just launched and has brought with it a plethora of content. With new content comes new mechanics, and the Tome of Want might be the most complicated of the bunch. The Tome of Want is a new accessory making its debut in Episode Heresy.

“A book of forbidden knowledge, its contents ensconced with promises of rich rewards…divulged at the cost of one’s own sanity,” the Tome of Want item description reads. This ominous item description tells you very little of what the item is or what it does. Still, the Tome of Want is one of the best new accessories in the game, helping you get extra loot while also boosting your artifact perks.

If you’re looking to optimize your Destiny 2 experience with the best loot and perks, this is an item you want to utilize. If you’re struggling to understand the mechanics of the Tome of Want, our guide is here to help. In this guide, we shall go over the Tome of Want in Destiny 2.

What Is the Tome of Want

The Tome of Want is a new accessory container that allows you to enhance your Artifact Perks. This item also allows you to target-farm specific types of weapons and is useful when you’re aiming to obtain one particular weapon.

Tome Engravings

The first thing you notice when interacting with the Tome of Want is the two sections: Tome Engravings and Ritual Rites. The Tome Engravings are fairly simple and serve to enhance your Artifact Perks in the game. At the time of writing, there are only two buffs you can use: King’s Vestige and Dielectric.

Ritual Rites

The Ritual Rites section of the Tome of Want has three different slots that you need to keep in mind. These slots are used to hold and equip Scriptures, as well as activate Rituals. The first two slots in this section are used for assigning and enhancing Scriptures. Scriptures alter the rewards you get for completing Rituals. You can assign specific weapon-focused Scriptures to farm the weapons you desire.

The third slot is used to activate the Ritual of Desire at the cost of 2x Essence of Desire. Once the Ritual has begun, you can engage in the various activities in the game. Complete activities, defeat powerful combatants in Episode activities, or defeat other Guardians to gain progress, which will then reap the rewards.
