In this detailed guide, we’ll take a look at how you can complete the School’s Out quest in Dying Light The Beast.
Once you complete Toxin in the Toxic Relationships main quest, you’ll immediately get a call from Lydia, marking the beginning of the School’s Out quest in Dying Light The Beast. In this main quest, you will have to enter an abandoned school that’s apparently being used by Baron as a lab now. School’s Out is a lengthy quest, simply because you’ll need to infiltrate and move through several of the school building’s levels.
While you’re doing that, you have to collect research, fight off zombies, and do much more. So, here’s our complete guide for the quest.
How To Enter the School
When you reach the school, you’ll meet up with Ray, one of Lydia’s informants. He’ll inform you that Baron has posted guards at the front entrance, so you won’t be able to gain access that way. He points you to an open window above through which you can enter. However, there’s an alternate route too.
This route is the open window at the back of the school’s right building. You can enter through this secondary path and eventually reach Level 0 of the school. However, in this guide, we’ll stick to the route that Ray recommends simply because you can gather more loot this way.
Exploring the School in the School’s Out Quest in Dying Light The Beast
Level 2
The primary goal after entering the school through the open window up top is to collect five research papers. You’ll start off at Level 2 of the school. This area is full of sleeper zombies and a Screamer. If the Screamer notices you or if you make too much noise here, the sleeper zombies will wake and quickly overwhelm you. So, ensure you sneak around and loot as many of the lockers as you can before proceeding toward the stairs that lead down.
Level 1
The first level has a tightly packed library room that can make openly engaging the zombies here difficult. The floor also has more Screamers that you should avoid if possible. Apart from a few more lockers and general loot, this level doesn’t have anything particularly interesting. So, you can choose to directly proceed toward the staircase that leads further downstairs.
Level 0
This is where you would have started had you taken the alternate back window route to enter the school. Apart from the alternate entry point, you’ll also find a safe inside an office room in this level. You’ll have to figure out the combination for it if you want to gain access to its content, or you can simply go through our safe combination guide. Besides that, you can lockpick one of the doors in this level to get some more loot.
The cafeteria section has several more zombies, if you’re in the mood for a fight. However, to progress the quest, you’ll need to head further down using a set of stairs.
Level -1
This level will have numerous zombies, both standard ones and Screamers. You can also loot the lockers that line the hallway. However, if you want to proceed with the quest, simply follow the waypoint and make your way toward the gymnasium. The gym is swarming with Baron’s soldiers. You can try to take them down stealthily or go in guns blazing. After all enemies are down, simply use your survivor sense here to locate and collect the Research Papers. You’ll find 4 of them in this area.
Your survivor sense will also pinpoint the last Research Paper in the next room. As you open the door leading to that room, a cutscene will trigger. During this scene Kyle will meet Camilo, a scientist. You will need to clear a path for Camilo to reach Ray so that both of them can make their way to the Exiled hideout.
Rescuing Camilo in the School’s Out Quest in Dying Light The Beast
After the cutscene plays out, open the hatch in the same room and jump down into the flooded basement. You’ll need to clear out all of the infected in this area, one of which is a military zombie. After clearing the area, take the half-slid door and lockpick another door nearby. Interact with the exit door in this area to trigger a cutscene that shows Camilo escaping with Ray’s help.
Before that, Camilo will hand over a key that’s supposed to unlock an archive cabinet back in the gym. So, you’ll have to backtrack to that location once those two escape in the getaway car.
Grab the Final Research Paper and Reach Lydia
When you reach the gym and use Camilo’s key to acquire the final Research Paper, all hell will break loose. A full-blown fight will start between Baron’s backup team and the scavengers. Don’t get involved in this fight. Instead, simply head to the right and exit the scene. After the latest cutscene you can now exit the building through the main entrance. Outside, you’ll find just two soldiers standing near a couple of cars.
Eliminate them and then jump inside one of the cars to drive away. Head straight toward Lydia and hand over the documents to her. However, the School’s Out quest in Dying Light The Beast doesn’t conclude there. Instead, you’ll learn that Camilo and Ray never made it to the Exiled base. So, it’s up to you to investigate and find out what happened to the duo. Lydia will ask you to check the village nearby.

Finding Camilo
While you’re driving toward the village, you’ll spot that the getaway car Ray and Camilo used has crashed along the way. You’ll also discover Ray dead in the wreckage. After investigating the crash site, you’ll have to retrace Camilo’s footsteps. This can be difficult to do during the day, as the Survivor Sense doesn’t highlight the footsteps all too clearly. Your destination is the large blue house that sits right across the street here.
Enter through an open window, cross over through a vent, and head downstairs. Clear the house of all infected before interacting with the double doors in this area. Doing so triggers a cutscene that shows Camilo is safe. This time around, Lydia will arrive to take charge of Camilo herself, so you won’t need to rescue him a second time. And that brings the School’s Out quest in Dying Light The Beast to a close.
