The Entire Dying Light Saga Timeline
Dying Light (2014)

The story of Dying Light begins with Kyle Crane dropping into the city of Harran as it fights against a dangerous zombie outbreak. Crane has been sent to this city by the GRE, and his goal is to find Kadir Suleiman, a rogue GRE agent who stole some important files. His mission goes horribly wrong immediately upon landing when he’s bitten, but a group of survivors comes to his rescue and takes him to the Tower.
In the Tower, Crane works with the survivors, keeping his identity a secret, and eventually learns of a local warlord named Rais. Rising up in the ranks of the survivors, Crane eventually learns that Rais is in fact Suleiman, and the game’s events eventually lead to a confrontation between the two. Crane kills Rais and refuses to give the files to the GRE, opting to use the data instead to save the people of Harran with a cure.

Dying Light The Following (2014)

Shortly after the events of the first game, an injured survivor makes his way to the Tower. Showing symptoms of rapid insanity, the survivor reveals that people in the countryside are immune to the virus. This forces Crane to the countryside in search of a definitive cure for the virus. Crane’s adventure in the countryside leads him to a cult that worships the Mother. The Mother has kept everyone in the area immune, and as the story progresses, Crane discovers that the Mother is a sentient Volatile.
The Mother wishes to nuke the city and end the virus for good. The game then gives you the choice to side with her or turn against her. The canon ending sees Crane turning on her and defeating her. Refusing the Mother’s offer comes at a cost, however, as she force feeds a serum to Crane, one that slowly turns him into a volatile. Dying Light The Following ends with Crane turning into a monstrous volatile and attacking a nearby family.
