Elden Ring Nightreign: How To Get Legendary Weapons

Legendary weapons are unique armaments in Elden Ring Nightreign and among the rarest items you can find during a run.

While embarking on expeditions in Elden Ring Nightreign, players tread a delicate balance between strengthening their characters to face the Nightlord and racing against the encroaching Night’s Tide. Besides leveling up the Nightfarers, the most important part of a player’s build to beat the final boss is their weapon. Weapons are categorized based on their rarity, which includes Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Legendary. While it is fairly simple to find uncommon and even rare weapons, procuring a legendary weapon can significantly increase damage output with its special effects.

How To Find Legendary Weapons in Elden Ring Nightreign

Each weapon rarity in Elden Ring Nightreign has a minimum level requirement to use it, and you must reach level 10 to wield a legendary weapon. There are two main routes to obtaining a legendary weapon: upgrading and defeating bosses.

Bosses

The most reliable way to obtain legendary weapons in Elden Ring Nightreign is to defeat bosses. While field bosses have a small chance of dropping a legendary weapon upon being defeated, Shifting Earth bosses and other “Great Enemies” have a higher chance of doing so. These bosses offer a greater challenge and risk during your run, but have the possibility of dropping equally worthwhile rewards, including legendary weapons. You can find bosses on the map by looking for dragon icons. However, ensure that you are sufficiently leveled up before you face them to reduce the risk of losing the run.

Upgrading

Level 1 Smithing Stones can improve a weapon from common to uncommon, and level 2 Smithing Stones can further increase the rank of an uncommon weapon to rare. However, Smithing Stones cannot upgrade weapons to the Legendary tier; for that, you need a Smithing Table.

Smithing Tables only appear at “The Crater,” which is a randomly occurring Shifting Earth event. A vast crater appears on the map, surrounded by magma. At its center lies the Smithing Table, which a field boss usually guards. Approach the Smithing Table and press the use button to open its menu. Then, select whichever weapon you would like to ascend to legendary rank. Although you can choose any rarity rank weapon for the upgrade, the Legendary Ascension can only be performed once per run.

Weapons upgraded to legendary rank through this method will have a suffix like +2, depending on their original rarity. Even though weapons upgraded in this manner will be classified as legendary, their bonuses and special abilities will still pale in comparison to the unique legendary weapons you receive from other methods. Although this method is guaranteed to land you a legendary weapon, the occurrence of Shifting Earth: The Crater event cannot be predicted.
