To two-hand a melee weapon in Elden Ring Nightreign, you need to press the light attack button for either your right- or left-hand weapon while holding the interaction/examine button. If you hold the interaction button and press the right-hand light attack, you will wield your right-hand weapon with two hands.

On the other hand, pressing the left-hand attack while holding the interact button performs the same action for your left-hand weapon. Here is how it works on each platform:

  • PlayStation: Hold triangle and press R1 or L1.
  • Xbox: Hold Y and press RB or LB.
  • PC: Hold Alt and click the right or left mouse button.

You can press the same combinations to revert back to one-handed wielding.

What Happens When You Two-Hand a Weapon in Elden Ring Nightreign?

Two-handing a weapon not only changes your stance but also significantly increases your damage output. Two-handed weapon strikes hit enemies harder and deal more damage. It also increases your efficiency in breaking enemy poise, allowing you to perform stagger and critical attacks effectively. Moreover, you will also gain new flashy movesets, though they are slightly slower than one-handed attacks.

However, it also has certain drawbacks, such as preventing you from blocking and dual-wielding (attacking with two weapons simultaneously). Since you cannot block with your shield when two-handing a weapon, you rely entirely on dodging to avoid incoming damage. Wielding a weapon in two hands can be highly beneficial if you want to increase your damage output, allowing you to defeat enemies and bosses more effectively.
