Highland Sentinel

Highland Sentinel Features and Set Bonuses in ESO:

  • Name: Highland Sentinel
  • Type: Craftable
  • Available Armor Weight: Light, Medium, or Heavy Armor; Jewelry and Weapons
  • Location: West Weald
  • Requires DLC: Gold Road
  • Armor Set bonuses (Level 50 – CP 160):
    • 2 items: Adds 657 Critical Chance
    • 3 items: Adds 657 Critical Chance
    • 4 items: Adds 657 Critical Chance
    • 5 items: While in combat, each second you stand still grants you a stack of Sentinel’s Eye every 1 second, up to 10 stacks. Each stack increases your Critical Chance by 468. Each second you move removes half of your stacks of Sentinel’s Eye, rounded up. Exiting combat remove all stacks of Sentinel’s Eye. Using charge and teleport abilities do NOT remove stacks of Sentinel’s Eye.

In ESO (The Elder Scrolls Online), the Highland Sentinel set offers a complicated but potentially powerful 5-piece bonus that can dramatically increase your critical chance. First, when you are wearing 2 to 4 items from this set, each additional piece will add 657 Critical Chance to your build.

Next, when you are wearing 5 pieces of Highland Sentinel, you can begin to build stacks of Sentinel’s Eye for every second you stand still. You can build up to 10 stacks, and each one will increase your Critical Chance by 468. Therefore, the largest amount of Critical Chance you can generate with Sentinel’s Eye is 4,680. This, stacked on top of the additional crit chance from the other three items, will significantly boost your damage!

The trick with this set, however, is that to build these stacks of Sentinel’s Eye you must stand in place. This can be a tall order in ESO, where movement is generally critical to both doing damage and surviving. Therefore, this set is going to have a narrow application for players in the game.

How to Use Highland Sentinel Set in PvE and PvP?

Although the Highland Sentinel Set will have very limited use in general ESO gameplay, it will likely completely change the meta for parsing. For players who enjoy practicing their rotation on a training dummy and pushing the absolute limits of their DPS, this set will be a must-have.

Moreover, it will be very easy to collect, as it is a craftable set. Even for those players who may not have access to the Gold Road chapter, these pieces will likely become available to craft in guild halls or for sale at guild traders.

However, this set will have next to no application for any of the PvP environments. Whether in Cyrodiil, Battlegrounds, or Imperial City a major part of your survivability is movement. Whether you are attacking or dodging, there is next to no time to stand still in a PvP fight. Therefore, you cannot build any stacks of Sentinel’s Eye and the set becomes mostly useless.

Finally, PvE is a bit more of a middle ground where the Highland Sentinel set could potentially be used. In a coordinated group, with Tank that can hold a boss in place, you could use this set to deal massive single-target damage. However, on some of the more recent, higher-difficulty dungeons and trials, even this might be unlikely, given the many additional mechanics that keep players moving.

How to Get Highland Sentinel Set in ESO?

Highland Sentinel Map Location - ESO - Leftwheel Grainery Crafting Station

You can get the Highland Sentinel set by crafting it at the Leftwheal Grainery location in the West Weald zone. This is located along the northwestern road and is right next to the Centurion’s Watch wayshrine.

To reach the West Weald in ESO, you’ll need the Gold Road chapter, which must be purchased separately for access. It won’t be included in DLCs or become available through an ESO+ subscription until at least a year later.

Moreover, you can “attune” crafting stations using crafting writ vouchers. This allows you to place the crafting station in your home and enable others who don’t own the chapter to craft the set. Finally, you can also make a considerable amount of gold by selling the craftable set.
