How to get Pickman’s Blade in Fallout 4

In Fallout 4, you can get Pickman’s Blade by visiting Pickman Gallery, saving Pickman from Raiders, and using his key to unlock his safe. Pickman Gallery can be found just northeast of the Mass Fusion Building, on the northeastern end of the Boston island.

You’ll have to fight your way through a lot of raiders to find and save Pickman. First, make your way upstairs and then drop down the hole in the floor into a narrow crawlspace. Follow this series of tunnels which will lead you down into the basement. There you will find Pickman being held at gunpoint by some Raiders. Kill the Raiders and be careful not to hit or injure Pickman himself.

Once the Raiders are dead, speak with Pickman and he will reward you with the key to the safe. Additionally, before you leave, but sure to pick up the Strength bobblehead lying on the ground beside a trashcan.

Finally, make your way back to the main floor of the Pickman Gallery. Find the painting titled ‘Picnic for Stanley’. Remove the painting and you will find the locked safe behind it. Use the key, and you’ll find Pickman’s Blade inside.

How to use Pickman’s Blade

Pickman’s Blade is our top-ranked melee weapon in Fallout 4, due to a couple of great bonuses that automatically come with the knife. First, the Wounding legendary effect causes targets to bleed for an additional 25 points of damage when hit. Secondly, the blade comes with a pre-equipped stealth blade mod. Consequently, the blade can also deal an additional sneak attack damage multiplier of 0.5, as well as causing targets to bleed for an additional 10 points of damage over 5 seconds. Moreover, this mod stacks with the Wounding effect for 35 points of damage from bleeding per hit!

Furthermore, you can get this weapon relatively early on in the game. Depending on your skill and level of Endurance you might be able to take the Raiders at Pickman Gallery on as early as level 10. If not, by level 15 you should be able to defeat them comfortably.

The combination of the Wounding effect stacked with the stealth blade mod makes the Pickman’s Blade incredibly strong, and it will continue to be useful even through the end game of Fallout 4. It’s a must-have for anyone using a Melee or Sneak build.
