There, you will meet Mato and learn a little more about your quest that led you to the lands in the northeast. From there, the story will continue further into the Lulab Forest.

Exploring the Faraway Islands in Chapter 4 of Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time
During the previous events in the Eternia Village in Chapter 4, players got to know about the only way to harvest a Polturnip. As Rem told you before joining your party, you will need to get the Spirited Hoe to get your hands on the special carrot. You will be able to find this item in the Valley of Spirit, which is in the Faraway Islands.
Once you have arrived at the Faraway Islands on the back of Skelegon and landed in the new area, a cutscene will trigger. During it, Rem will talk about her childhood dreams of going on adventures with a Dragon. A scream will interrupt this conversation, followed by a villager saying, “Not again.”
Enter through the gate and look for the person in distress. If you follow the road in front of you, you will stumble into Mato. He will be distraught by his ruined pumpkins but will quickly gather himself in the presence of Rem. When you ask Mato about the Valley of Spirits, he will tell you that he isn’t well-versed in spirits. However, he heard that, according to the legends, the location you are after lies somewhere beyond the Lulab Forest.
Follow Mato’s Directions
After the conversion ends, make sure to check out your surroundings to see if it has something you need for your journey. While you are at it, we also recommend checking the bulletin board there for additional things to do. Once you are done, simply follow Mato’s instructions. Make your way out of the village and walk to the opposite side of the docks to come across the Lulab Forest.
