PlayStation’s February 2025 State of Play has announced that Bend Studio’s Days Gone is getting a current gen-remaster. The announcement of Days Gone Remastered triggered numerous debates and critics within the community.

Since Days Gone is already optimized for PS4 and runs smoothly on PS5, the open-world post-apocalyptic game already remains top in performance and visuals, eliminating the need for a remaster. However, several other titles have been highly requested by fans for a proper remake or remaster over the years. Let’s go through five games that highly deserved a remaster more than Days Gone.

5 Games That Deserves a Remaster

1) Bloodborne

Starting the list with FromSoftware’s masterpiece Bloodborne, which has been demanding a remaster by fans for years. In fact, many players had even expected that the Bloodborne remaster would feature in the State of Play but turned out to be disappointed by Days Gone Remastered instead. It has already been 10 years since the legendary game was released, and fans are still hoping for a remaster on its 10th anniversary.

Since the souls-like horror title is locked at 30fps, a 60fps update has been much requested by players, which would perfectly align with its fast-paced combat mechanics. Although being one of the greatest PlayStation exclusives, it is also one of the most neglected titles by Sony for a remaster.

2) Dino Crisis

Dino Crisis, often described as ‘Resident Evil with dinosaurs,’ was one of the huge hits of Capcom. While Capcom has remastered multiple titles from its Resident Evil franchise, they overlooked Dino Crisis for years.

Since both Resident Evil and Dino Crisis were developed by the same team, most of the core gameplay mechanics look very similar, with swapping of zombies and dinosaurs being the major difference. This classic survival horror featuring intricate puzzle-solving and exploration would be a sure hit if it got a proper remake in the modern RE Engine, like the Resident Evil remasters.

3) Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005)

Many racing games have come and gone, but nothing matched the legacy of Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005). This classic arcade racing game remains unmatched in its genre to date, leaving nostalgic moments and remaining close to the heart. Defeating the Blacklist racers in intense races and escaping police pursuits are some iconic moments for every NFS fan.

Although Need for Speed: Most Wanted received a 2012 reboot with the same name, it will not be considered a proper remake or remaster of the iconic 2005 version. Fans have been longing for a true remaster, yet EA has remained silent and overlooked these demands. If a proper remake or remaster with enhanced visuals, modern gameplay mechanics, and updated physics were released, the classic Need for Speed: Most Wanted could definitely break records.

4) Resident Evil – Code: Veronica

Capcom has successfully remade several Resident Evil titles, yet Resident Evil – Code: Veronica was denied a remaster for years. It is the last classic-style title before the Resident Evil franchise shifted its gameplay to be more action-oriented. Unlike other classics such as Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, it didn’t receive a full remake. Instead, Code: Veronica only received a minor HD re-release titled Code: Veronica X.

Code: Veronica features one of the best storylines in the series, following Claire Redfield and Chris Redfield. A remake with the modern RE Engine could possibly make this underrated title stand out among Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4, and give the recognition it deserves.

5) Infamous 1 and 2

Sucker Punch Productions’ Infamous was Sony’s top superhero franchise before Marvel’s Spider-Man. It features incredible storytelling in an open-world setting in a choice-based narration. Infamous 1 and 2, the original two games, follow the story of a bike messenger, Cole MacGrath, who gains a superpower. The series focuses on how your choices define your path toward becoming a hero or a villain (infamous).

Being a PS3 exclusive, the original two games never received an update for PS4 or PS5. Meanwhile, Infamous Second Son runs at 60 FPS on PS5. If the original titles receive a remaster with enhanced visuals and smoother performance, they would definitely stand out among other superhero titles to date.
