Nintendo has recently announced that Hidetaka Miyazaki will be making a Soulslike game exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. This game, called The Duskbloods, clearly takes heavy inspiration from Bloodborne aesthetically. In addition, the game moves away from the traditional PvE experience, instead focusing on PvPvE, placing a lot more emphasis on the multiplayer aspect. So, here are 5 games to play while you are waiting for The Duskbloods to launch.

1. Elden Ring Nightreign

Elden Ring Nightreign is a roguelike that is heavily focused on players cooperating together to clear levels and slay bosses. While there is no PvP in this game, players can still play Elden Ring Nightreign to get used to having multiple players around. Additionally, there is a chance that there will be random encounters against bosses like Margit at any level, which works similarly to a player invading the host to impede progress.

Elden Ring Nightreign releases on May 30, 2025. It is a must-play for all avid fans of Hidetaka Miyazaki and the Souls series.

2. Dark Souls 3

Dark Souls 3 featured the best implementation of online multiplayer in any Souls game yet. Players host fight clubs all the time, where multiple players would duke it out against each other in one player’s world. Additionally, invasions are also the best in this game, as up to two invaders can be present in one player’s world. However, the best part about Dark Souls 3 is the fact that enemies can attack invading players if the host uses a certain item.

All of these factors will be present in The Duskbloods, as it will be a PvPvE game. So, playing Dark Souls 3 online is an ideal way to get some experience before the game drops.

3. Bloodborne

The Duskbloods draws heavy inspiration from the Gothic London aesthetic, which is made apparent in the reveal trailer. So, to get a feel for how the game might be, it is a good idea to play Bloodborne if you haven’t already done so. In addition, the multiplayer components are also present in Bloodborne. Players are allowed to summon two phantoms to help them through areas, but doing so opens them to invasions.

However, keep in mind that enemies will not attack invaders in this game, but it is still a good way to get a feel for what The Duskbloods will be like. Also, many players have joked that The Duskbloods is in fact Bloodborne 2 in disguise.

4. Lies of P

Lies of P is a Soulslike game that took heavy inspiration from Bloodborne in its settings. It takes place in a world that is very similar to Victorian-era Gothic London, just like Bloodborne. Additionally, there are also Eldritch creatures present in this game, which further add to the Lovecraftian horror theme. Although this game lacks online multiplayer, it is still a good way to get into the vibe of The Duskbloods.

Since The Duskbloods also takes place in a Victorian setting and features many Eldritch creatures, as seen in the trailer, Lies of P is a must-play for players looking forward to this game.

5. Dark Souls 2

Dark Souls 2 is the first Souls game that introduced the concept of PvPvE into the series. The developers introduced an item that turned enemies hostile toward invaders, which further added to the chaos of invasions. While Dark Souls 2 isn’t that active online these days, many players get together once every few months to revive the game. So, it is recommended to try out the online mechanics of Dark Souls 2 whenever the “Return to Drangleic” event takes place.
