The Great Conchflies is a dual enemy boss fight in Hollow Knight Silksong that also comes back later in Act 2. Here’s how you beat it.
Beating the Great Conchflies in Hollow Knight Silksong is one thing, but even reaching the arena takes quite an effort. The bosses are located in the Blasted Steps, far left to the world map, and one might think before Act 2, the end of the map. These bosses use their drill shaped shell to attack Hornet, and being mates, fight her together as well. The boss fight is a mix of careful dodging and surviving till you get one of the Conchflies down. The other will then proceed to run away. Here’s how you can beat the Great Conchflies in Act 1.
Where To Find the Great Conchflies Boss
The Great Conchflies Boss fight is located in the Blasted Steps, just before the Pinstress’ home. It is located at the left end of the Blasted Steps, just below the Bench of the area. To reach this area, you will need to unlock the Drifter’s Cloak in Shellwood first and use the dash ability to traverse through the winds of Blasted Steps. The Boss arena is a small room that closes when you enter, starting the boss fight.
Great Conchflies Boss Overview
The Great Conchflies have simple moves that are easy to dodge, but their attacks will deal two damage if hit. Both of the bosses sync together to provide Hornet a bit of a challenge before she can move on further to the Blasted Steps. Here are all the moves of the Great Conchflies:
- Drill Attack: The bosses travel through the arena using their drill shells, horizontally or vertically. The attack is indicated by dust particles around the area.
- Drill Shot: Throws a large drill projectile towards Hornet, bouncing 3 times max. Can be reflected towards the Conchflies. The Conchfly will remain still in the arena before firing
- Quick Drill Attacks: Both bosses burrow and drill fast in the arena in both directions. Usually done after the first boss stun.
Once you defeat one of the Conchflies, the other will fly away and can be found in late Act 2 of Hollow Knight Silksong. The bosses have the same moves, but the arena being small will require you to move around a lot.
Tips and Tricks for Great Conchflies Boss
It is essential to remain grounded during the Great Conchflies boss fight, as the bosses will always be attacking in both directions. Using the Down Dash can also help cancel your jump if you overreach a lot.
You have enough time to attack the bosses while they are airborne or close to the ground. Especially during the Drill Shot attack, only one Conchfly will remain on the screen. Going behind will allow you to jump attack 2–3 hits before dodging or reflecting the projectile back.
This is a fairly easy fight compared to other bosses in the game, as they are slow and have very easy-to-spot attacks. Only your movement has to be precise, and everything else will click in place.
