Hollow Knight Silksong: How To Beat Watcher at the Edge (Boss Guide)

During your playthrough, you might have already come across the Watcher at the Edge in Hollow Knight Silksong. It is one of the many boss enemies that you meet in the game, and like all other bosses, this fight can pose quite a bit of challenge. This is especially true when you go into the encounter unprepared and unsure what to expect.

So, in the following guide, we’ll familiarize you with this boss, including where you can find the Watcher at the Edge and his attack patterns and strategies that can help in the battle.

Where To Find Watcher at the Edge in Hollow Knight Silksong

You will find this particular boss in the Sands of Karak. More specifically, you’ll need to reach the westernmost part of this region. However, keep in mind that you’ll need the Super Jump ability (Silk Soar) to be able to get to the exact spot where the boss battle happens.

Since Silk Soar is an ability that Hornet can only unlock in Act 3 of the game, you’ll need to proceed until that point before you can complete this boss encounter. Upon running into the Watcher at the Edge boss, you’ll need to play the Needolin to awaken the enemy since he’ll be a statue at first.

Watcher at the Edge doesn’t have any special tricks or attacks up his sleeve. Instead, he has two primary attack types that he’ll use in his battle with you. Both of these are physical attacks. Also, the boss doesn’t have different phases to speak of. So, you won’t need to adjust your strategies midway through the battle. The following are the two attack types you need to watch out for.

• Hack and slash attack: In this one, the boss will use his bony sword to perform a deadly melee attack. He’ll attempt to slash at you consecutively, and if you’re caught in any one of these, the attacks can deal significant damage to Hornet.

• Jump attack: Another attack type involves the boss scraping his sword along the sand and then unleashing a jumping attack toward you. After landing from the initial jump, he’ll launch another slash attack immediately. Once again, if Hornet is hit with either of these slashes, she’ll suffer massive damage to her HP.

How To Defeat the Watcher at the Edge: Tips and Tricks

The following are some strategies to leverage during this battle:

• Both the attacks from the boss are blockable. However, we suggest moving out of the way of the slashes instead. Hornet can sprint out of the way just before the Watcher at the Edge launches an attack to keep her health safe.

• Immediately after evading the attack, wait for the boss’s attack to complete. Waste no time and perform a counterattack at this time, before the enemy can unleash his next attack.

• Equip yourself with the Cogfly for this fight, as this tool can hone in on the boss and deal some additional damage without risking Hornet in the process.

• Similarly, you can equip the Flintslate tool here, since that’ll increase the damage your Needle attacks deal. So, it can bring the fight to an end sooner.

• The Beast Crest is an excellent choice for the battle, since it boosts Hornet’s healing and slash attack damage. Both of these are extremely handy during the Watcher at the Edge boss fight.

After beating this boss, he’ll turn into stone and perish. You can then pick up the Grey Memento from him. This is not a crafting material or tool, but simply an item that recounts Pharloom’s history that Hornet can place in a home.
