Each Silkshot variant offers unique trade-offs in power, ammo, and utility. Learn how to obtain them all in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Hollow Knight: Silksong expands the beloved metroidvania formula with deeper customisation and weapon variety, allowing players to tailor Hornet’s abilities. The kingdom of Pharloom is vast and treacherous, demanding strategic choices not just in navigation but in how players build their toolkit. Among the most significant decisions players face is what to do with the Ruined Tool. This broken relic can be restored into one of three versions of Silkshot, a versatile weapon for Hornet.
This choice is permanent within a playthrough, locking players into one of three distinct Silkshot variants. Each offers unique strengths and trade-offs, and understanding how to use them is vital for combat. Where to find the Ruined Tool and the implications of each upgrade path are essential for optimising the player’s build. Here’s how to obtain each version and which one might best suit the player’s journey in Pharloom.
How To Get All Silkshot Versions

Firstly, players cannot obtain all three versions in one playthrough. To attain any version of Silkshot, they must locate the Ruined Tool first. The Ruined Tool is an incomplete relic that can be crafted into one of three versions of Silkshot. To acquire the Ruined Tool, players need to travel to a hidden area called Weaver’s Den. This is only accessible after Hornet unlocks the Web-Walker ability. Once obtained, players must choose one of three crafting options to restore it.

All Three Silkshot Variants

If you take the Ruined Tool to Forge Daughter in Deep Docks, you can craft a rapid-fire Silkshot with high ammo capacity. This version allows players to fire in quick succession but lowers Hornet’s air mobility. This Silkshot variation suits aggressive playstyles with its ample ammo. The second version is obtained through the Twelfth Architect in the Underworks area. It creates a triple-shot spread variant with noticeable recoil and reduced ammo. Although the Architect’s spread shot excels against groups of enemies, it struggles with isolated targets.
Lastly, the Mount Fay version of Silkshot is forged by Hornet herself. This unlocks the laser beam-style Silkshot, which suspends Hornet midair when fired and deals the highest damage. The Mount Fay variant is ideal for precision and platforming but requires rare resources.
