Emily Zhang, better known as ExtraEmily, is a Chinese-American Twitch streamer, who became popular on Twitch for her variety streams.
Emily Zhang, popularly known online as ExtraEmily, is a content creator and live streamer who became famous on Twitch through her IRL streams. Zhang was born on 16th January 1998, in Omaha, Nebraska, to her Chinese parents. She graduated from Columbia University in 2020 with a degree in Financial Engineering.
The 25-year-old started uploading vlogs and IRL content on her YouTube in 2020, before starting streaming on Twitch. She initially played Wii games and other games like Super Mario 64 and Mario Kart. Emily’s streams were a whirlwind of energy, and her infectious laughter was the highlight. Her bubbly and charming personality helped her gain an audience.
Emily started speed-running Super Mario Odyssey, in which Emily quickly gained recognition for her dedication and skill, setting impressive times. Her ability to master complex game mechanics, paired with her lighthearted commentary, made her streams not just impressive but also incredibly entertaining.
ExtraEmily saw significant growth in the Among Us era, her quirky, high-energy personality quickly made her a standout figure in the lobby. Whether she’s frantically defending herself as a crew mate or pulling off outrageous plays as an imposter, Emily’s Among Us sessions were full of unexpected moments.
Emily’s Growth After Joining OTK
ExtraEmily rose to fame after getting on Mizkif’s show Schooled, where she found her way into the finals. Clips of Miz’s show featuring Emily went viral quickly as they were fun and quirky thanks to her personality. After Schooled, she tripled her following and average viewers.
ExtraEmily’s big leap came in February of 2023 when she joined One True King (OTK), a collective of some of the biggest names in content creation. This partnership was a game-changer. By collaborating with established creators, Emily gained exposure to a larger audience.

Being part of OTK also allowed her to diversify her content. From competitive gaming to interactive streams with her fellow creators, Emily showcased her versatility. Whether she was cracking jokes, tackling wild challenges, or sharing candid moments, she proved that she was an entertainer while maintaining her identity as a gamer.
After joining OTK, Emily quickly became a fan favourite as her bubbly personality and quirkiness were liked by many. She is currently nominated for the Streamers Awards in 3 separate categories: The Sapphire Award, Best Streamed Event, and Best IRL Streamer.
