Thea gained public attention through her relationship with Jimmy “MrBeast.” Booysen, born on December 5, 1997, is 27 years old as of this writing. She was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. Thea holds a bachelor’s degree in law, and an honors degree in psychology from Stellenbosch University. She recently graduated with a master’s degree in neuroscience from the University of Edinburgh.
Thea has also written a book titled ‘The Marked Children,’ a novel she started writing in high school. Booysen had mentioned previously that she and Jimmy bonded over the book at the beginning of their relationship. Thea is an esports caster as well; she has officially cast for the strategy card game Gwent by CD Projekt Red. She has a Twitch channel as well, where she initially streamed League of Legends, Witcher 3, and Gwent. Thea has two YouTube channels named TheaBeasty and More Than Human. On TheaBeasty, she uploads gaming content, and on the More Than Human channel, she uploads psychology facts.
Thea and Jimmy recently announced their engagement on social media. According to People, the couple got engaged on Christmas Day at their home in Greenville, North Carolina. Both families were present on the day of the proposal. She has previously appeared in two of MrBeast’s videos.

How Did Thea Booysen and MrBeast Meet?
During the Wide Awake Podcast, Thea mentioned that she and Jimmy met during his visit to South Africa. She stated that the couple met when she was invited to a dinner by her friend. Thea mentioned that she was curious from a psychological perspective to check if popular people had an alter ego.
“I knew of MrBeast and the great things he was doing, but from a psychological perspective, I was curious,” Thea said. “Are these people playing it up? Do they have an alter ego? Are they down-to-earth? I really wanted to meet him in person and see. When I got there, he was super nice, very down-to-earth, and he started asking me a lot of questions.”
Thea mentioned that the couple talked about neuroscience and her book. She found his curiosity and ability to engage in conversation attractive. At first, the couple had a long-distance relationship until they moved in together in 2024. However, due to her tourist visa, Booysen spends half the time in the US and half in South Africa.
