As Jujutsu Kaisen’s most dynamic character, Yuji Itadori, shared a strong connection with most characters in the series. Having joined the world of Jujutsu later in life, fans may question his powers in the series. So, how strong is Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen?

Yuji Itadori was one of the most talented Sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen, whose strength could be compared to Yuta Okkotsu, Satoru Gojo, and even Ryomen Sukuna. Let us dive deeper into his character.

Who Is Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen?

Yuji Itadori was the main character of Jujutsu Kaisen and was an athletic and likable boy during his introduction. After facing a dangerous situation with Curses, however, he ingested a Cursed Object, which turned out to be a finger of the King of Curses – Sukuna.

This caused Sukuna to be bound into his body as they shared one form with each other. To learn to control the entity within him and use his powers for good, Yuji enrolled in Jujutsu High.

Throughout Jujutsu Kaisen, Itadori was a selfless individual who would happily sacrifice himself to save his friends. He placed a very high emphasis on “life” and did not kill others until there was no other choice. This could also be applied to Curses, as we saw him learn to care about people like Choso.

By the end of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji had been a Sorcerer for hardly a few months. Considering this, his growth in strength was prodigious.

As mentioned above, the timeline between Yuji Itadori entering Jujutsu High and the final Shinjuku Showdown Arc was just about six months. Though it may seem brief, this time was enough for Itadori to prove himself as one of the series’ strongest. His abilities included:

1) Physical Prowess –

Even before becoming a Jujutsu Sorcerer, Itadori was very physically gifted. He was fast enough to complete a 50-meter track within 3 seconds and had very high stamina and durability.

Additionally, Itadori was also very proficient in hand-to-hand combat. He quickly adapted in battle, even matching Aoi Todo, another genius in Jujutsu Kaisen.

2) Cursed Energy Punches –

From the very start of the series, Yuji Itadori’s punches were his signature move. After imbuing Cursed Energy on top of his innate strength, he was able to greatly injure any opponent he faced. His Divergent Fist was a delayed Cursed attack that would impact the target two times with the same punch.

Along with this, the Black Flash punch was Itadori’s most iconic move in Jujutsu Kaisen. By applying Cursed Energy within one millionth of a second from his punch, he would greatly amplify its power. This also allowed him to directly damage the soul of the enemy, a rare ability that was very beneficial against strong Curses such as Mahito and Sukuna.

3) Blood Manipulation –

Itadori was linked to the Cursed Womb Choso through their connection to Kenjaku and had also absorbed Death Paintings himself. This allowed him to use Blood Manipulation Techniques.

Under Choso’s training, he could apply Piercing Blood and Supernova and first displayed them during the Shinjuku Showdown Arc.

4) Reverse Cursed Technique –

During his training arc before the final battle with Sukuna, Yuji learned Reverse Cursed Technique. He had learned it due to Kusakabe, who transferred his soul into Yuji’s body using Ui Ui’s Soul Swap technique.

In his final battle with Sukuna, Itadori was able to withstand multiple Cleave and Slash moves while delivering his attacks due to rapid regeneration through the Reverse Cursed Technique.

5) Domain Techniques –

Kusakabe’s soul swap also taught Itadori domain and anti-domain techniques. His new Simple Domain neutralized the barriers of other domains and could even resist Sukuna’s Malevolent Shrine.

Fans were also very excited to see Yuji Itadori finally showcasing his Domain Expansion in the final few chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen. While its exact conditions were never revealed, it allowed Itadori to recreate his hometown and have a heart-to-heart conversation with Sukuna. This was extremely fitting considering his kind personality, which wished to understand even enemies over preemptively judging them.

By the end of Jujutsu Kaisen, it’s safe to say that Yuji Itadori was arguably the strongest remaining character, aside from Yuta Okkotsu. Along with all his powers, however, can Itadori use Sukuna’s abilities too?

Can Yuji Itadori Use Ryomen Sukuna’s Powers?

Apart from the powers he learned on his own, the long time Sukuna spent in Itadori’s body came with its benefits.

The King of Curses had unknowingly engraved his Cursed Technique within Itadori, granting him access to certain powers.

Through this, he could use Sukuna’s Shrine Cursed Techniques such as Cleave and Dismantle. Yuji’s application of the technique was different since he created lines on objects while cutting them on contact.

Despite its relatively low output, it was still a very advantageous technique which helped in separating Sukuna’s soul from Megumi’s body and saving his friend in the process.

Is Yuji Itadori Stronger than Satoru Gojo?

Since Gojo had taken Itadori as his student with the belief that he would eventually surpass his strength, fans might be curious if this happened in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga.

Yuji Itadori had undoubtedly gained a vast amount of strength during the final arc of Jujutsu Kaisen, most of which are mentioned above. With his superhuman body, talent, and array of techniques, it is safe to say that he would prove a challenging match for anyone in the series, including Gojo.

However, all the powers of Itadori that were revealed in Jujutsu Kaisen were still not enough to prove that he was stronger than the most powerful Sorcerer in the series. Gojo was a singular presence in the series who could easily defeat any opponent with his Limitless and Six Eyes.

His immeasurable strength, Cursed Technique Reversal, and Domain Expansion had also overpowered Sukuna for most of their battle during the Shinjuku Showdown. However, Gojo eventually died due to combined efforts from Sukuna and Maharoga. Hence, we will never get a decisive fight between Itadori and him to find the answer.

That being said, when simply considering their overall abilities and accomplishments in the series by its final chapter, Yuji Itadori was still not stronger than Satoru Gojo. Nevertheless, since Itadori had only been a Sorcerer for a few months and still survived past the series itself, it is highly likely that he would go on to surpass Gojo’s powers.

Weaknesses of Yuji Itadori

Itadori’s strength has already been established, but he also had his fair share of weaknesses in Jujutsu Kaisen. As an energetic and happy-going person, he was often naive and could avert his eyes to the evil nature of people and his own faults.

Even after his traumatic experiences in the series, after defeating Sukuna, he was still willing to accept the King of Curses into his body and save him. While Sukuna did refuse the offer, it could have still been a very dangerous move, which undid everything the Sorcerers did.

Additionally, while he did learn long-distance attacks such as the Blood Manipulation Techniques, most of Itadori’s moves were still close-range. Hence, when faced with fighters who could use projectile techniques or cover large areas, he was at a significant disadvantage.

Most importantly, Itadori could often be very emotional and lose sight of the bigger picture. During both Junpei and Nanami’s deaths, he was very easily manipulated by Mahito into losing control of himself. This also made him an easy target to emotionally exploit and push into moral dilemmas.

Conclusion

Yuji Itadori was a very unique protagonist who constantly pushed himself for the sake of his friends. Despite having no fixed goal in life, he was constantly evolving and driven by a deep sense of duty towards those around him.

This let him get back up no matter how many times he fell while strengthening both his skills and his spirit.
