Hunting Season in Black Ops 6 drops you in the middle of Operation Desert Storm. Here’s how to navigate this mission better.
The Hunting Season mission in the Black Ops 6 Campaign puts you in an open-world setting in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm. Players get to experience a small part of the Gulf War and raid Saddam Hussain’s palace to discover a harrowing detail vital to the story.
Since you and your team are now rogue CIA Operatives, Adler uses his connection with Helen Park to join the coalition forces in the desert. Your primary objective is to help the British SAS and in return, they will let you search the Pantheon bunker beneath the palace before it blows up eventually.
The SAS puts you in charge of taking out the SCUD Launchers spread across the map. You blow up the first one as part of the mission opening and use it as the Layup i.e. base of operations. You have to take down the rest of the Launchers on your own in war-torn Iraq.
Make Things Easy During the Hunting Season Mission
After completing the opening linear segment of the mission, Park will hand you a Tac Map. You are now free to explore and complete the objectives on your own. Mark your targets and choose your priorities; the world is your oyster.
Talk to Captain Gladney and he will reveal what all the question marks are supposed to be on the map. Although it doesn’t reveal the location right away, you have an idea of what to expect out there.
We suggest you take your time in the desert and talk to the SAS Scouts first. We have marked them in Yellow in the image above. Just interact with them and they will reveal a large portion of the map objectives that you can match with the legends on the left side.
The SCUD Launchers are already marked clearly on your Tac Map but we suggest you gather some helpful gear first. After the scouts, head to the Heli Crash Site that we marked in Red. You will get access to a Stealth Bomber which you can use over and over again throughout the mission.
Next, feel free to take out the SAM Sites that are marked with Blue. Destroying these sites will give you access to a Chopper Gunner you can use repeatedly.
The Pink circles represent Enemy Encampments. These don’t grant you anything except some Pantheon caches. We will explain their importance later below.
As for the unmarked areas on the Tac Map, they are supply drops. Pick them up for some useful equipment e.g. Throwing Knives, RC-XD, a new gun, and at random, even a Mortar Strike.
While you can head to the SCUD sites right away and complete the objectives later, acquiring the gear first will be helpful for the rest of the mission, and also during the next phase.
Progressing the Hunting Season Mission
Once you have completed the main objectives of taking out the three marked SCUD Launchers, talk to Cpt. Gladney in the Layup. You can stay for a while to explore the area if you haven’t already or proceed to the palace.
The Delta Team then raids Saddam Hussain’s palace. Your opposing side will put up quite the fight. Make your way to the bunker in the back. You will discover something unexpected, Gladney will then reveal that he can’t hold the bombing much longer. Head out of the bunker and use the rope on the sides to climb the palace building right in front of you.
Fight off the swarm of enemies. Two choppers will fly in to drop some reinforcements, use the rocket launchers lying around to destroy them. Later, two more will come and should be met with the same fate.
Gladney will eventually come by in his own chopper once you have taken out enough enemies and RPGs. Hop on to the helicopter as soon as possible and fly away with your team as the palace gets bombed.
Challenges, Secrets, and Rewards in Hunting Season
The only mission challenge that is listed on the Evidence Board is Insight Advancement. You can complete it by discovering all of the 4 Audio Logs. This is where the Enemy Encampments come into play. Raid them and eliminate all occupants to complete the area. However, make sure to look around in order to find a Pantheon Cache which is around the size of a normal cache but is locked up in chains. They are usually easy to find if you are a bit patient. Loot whatever is inside, including an audio tape. Collect 4 of these to complete this listed challenge.
A secret that you might miss is the safe located in the Village encampment. Enter the biggest dilapidated building with the Iraqi flag on top. There is a small room on the first floor. Use the ‘signal’ to help you navigate to the room. Tune into the radio and it will reveal the safe codes. Exit the room, turn right, and the safe is at the end of the cabinet that has rice sacks on top of it. Opening it will give you $1000 for your safe house.
Completing the mission challenge will reward you with a gun blueprint that you can show off in multiplayer mode.
