You will come across many candidates when traveling the roads in Metaphor ReFantazio, and Roger the Libertarian is one of them.
Roger the Libertarian is a candidate you will encounter on your way to the Tomb of Lament. In Metaphor ReFantazio, candidates are rival Gauntlet Runners who patrol specific areas. After 7/23 on the calendar, several of them will be on the lookout for your party. If you want to avoid getting jumped, it is best to stay alert.
Once you meet Roger the Liberatarian, a cutscene will play, and Neuras will announce that a shiny Gauntlet Runner named the Wings of Freedom is pulling up beside yours. You will have no choice but to get on the deck with your entire party and fight.
Bringing Down Roger the Libertarian
What Is Roger Weak Against?
The Libertarian is vulnerable to Dark skills, so feel free to use these attacks against him. Note that he is to Pierce and Strike damage, so avoid using these.
If you are above Level 32 when you come across Roger, which is likely to be the case, the experience should be much easier. The freedom fanatic won’t be alone. He will have two supporters beside him, but they will not be that troublesome if you are prepared.
Welcoming the Libertarian on Board
No person who comes aboard the Gauntlet Runner should leave without getting treated to a proper battle. Invite Strohl, Hulkenberg, and Heismay, and throw a proper welcome party for the Protagonist’s new friend.
The Protagonist can be the Faker this time around and inherit Dekunds skill from the Healer archetype. Strohl will be Pugilist to deal with Roger’s Mage and Roger’s Supporter. Hulkenberg will hold aggro as the Magic Knight by using the Knight Proclamation skill. Heismay, on the other hand, will be the Assassin to deal Dark damage to Roger.
Here Comes the Showdown
Things start with the Protagonist. Use the Dekunda skill, acquired from the Healer Archetype, to remove the debuffs that Roger puts on your party. This is a major role during the fight, so you cannot ignore Faker’s importance. Also, cast your debuffs on his. Let him taste his own medicine!
Use Dark skills like Assassinate to take advantage of Roger the Libertarian’s weakness. Meanwhile, Strohl can defeat his goons, and Hulkenberg tanks damage from the opponents to keep others out of harm’s way. You will be able to put an end to this battle and come out victorious.
What Will You Get for Defeating This Candidate?
Since this is not a full-fledged boss fight in a dungeon, the reward for defeating Roger isn’t that alluring. You can expect the following after defeating the Libertarians:
- EXP: 1650
- A-EXP: 450
- MAG: 500
- Reeve: 7500
