The Blade Phantom is easily the toughest encounter in the early hours of The First Berserker Khazan. As the final boss of Mission 2, the Blade Phantom tests not only your ability to deflect (parry) but also your perfect dodge timings. Furthermore, as if the boss’ ability to dish out massive amounts of damage wasn’t enough, it also has the ability to teleport and recover its posture (stamina) almost immediately.

As such, to defeat the boss, you not only need to focus on your defenses but also on your offensive skills. Thankfully, as is the case with most bosses in The First Berserker Khazan, there is a way to take down the Blade Phantom rather easily using the Spear and the Moonlight combo.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Blade Phantom in The First Berserker Khazan and how to easily defeat it.

How To Unlock the Blade Phantom Boss Fight in The First Berserker Khazan?

The Blade Phantom is one of the mandatory bosses in The First Berserker Khazan. As such, you cannot miss this encounter. The boss fight unlocks automatically at the end of Mission 2 and serves as the final roadblock that you need to overcome before progressing through the main story.

The Blade Phantom is a spectral being of unknown origin that possesses Khazan at the start of the game. While the spirit’s intentions were to take control over Khazan’s body, dispelling his soul, it eventually succumbs to the protagonist’s will and agrees to cooperate. The Blade Phantom is a collection of different ancient spirits, each with their own abilities.

During the boss fight, the Blade Phantom regularly switches between three different offensive abilities, which are based on the weapon types available in the game. Furthermore, the boss also has access to a few area-of-effect (AOE) attacks, which it uses occasionally to stagger and deal damage to the player. Furthermore, the Blade Phantom’s boss fight has two phases, with the second phase featuring a few new attacks.

The first phase of the boss fight is fairly straightforward. Most of the attacks of the Blade Phantom in this phase are well-telegraphed and can be both parried and dodged. You can even follow up your parries with counterattacks to punish the small downtime the boss has after each of its attacks.

In the first phase, the Blade Phantom is also very prone to stagger, granted you stay close to it and keep attacking. Furthermore, parrying its three-hit combo easily staggers the boss. That being said, staying aggressive on the boss is much easier said than done. The Blade Phantom is extremely agile, and after most of its attacks, it usually teleports away to recover its stamina.

This makes the boss fight feel incredibly difficult, especially if you’re using the Greatsword or the Dual Wield. However, with the Spear, the boss becomes a cakewalk. Using the Spear with the Moonlight and Moonlight Stance skills, you can easily defeat the Blade Phantom without breaking a sweat. Here are all the requirements for the strategy we’re going to use to easily defeat the Blade Phantom:

Weapon

  • Spear (Imperial Soldier’s Spear)

Skills

  • Moonlight
  • Moonlight Stance (Level 3)
  • Chaser
  • Endurance (Level 3)
  • Breakdown

Here are some tips to easily defeat the Blade Phantom in The First Berserker Khazan:

  • Make sure you equip the Spear with the highest DPS (Damage) available. You can farm the regular enemies to get the Imperial Soldier’s Spear. However, you can also use the Spear that you receive upon completing the trial. Do note that you will need the Moonlight and Moonlight Stance skills to defeat the Blade Phantom.

  • The Moonlight skill essentially makes the third and final attack of a swift attack a slashing attack. Pairing this with the Moonlight Stance grants you additional afterimage attacks, which deal bonus stance/stamina damage.

  • The Moonlight combo essentially deals double the base stamina damage, which is how we’re going to defeat the Blade Phantom.

  • At the start of the battle, you can use a Vitality Sphere to hasten stamina recovery.

  • In the first phase, focus primarily on attacking the boss. Stay close to the Blade Phantom and don’t dodge its attacks. Instead, block/parry his attacks and counterattack with the Moonlight slash.

  • In the second phase, you can choose to parry the boss’ claw swipes for bonus stance damage. However, parrying is not mandatory. You can stick to dodging attacks and punishing with a counter-thrust followed by a Moonlight slash (mash Square or X).

Using this method and loadout, you will be able to easily defeat the Blade Phantom.
