Will is a currency in Black Myth: Wukong that you can obtain by defeating enemies and use to level up your gear.
Black Myth: Wukong wears its Souls inspiration on its sleeves, as evidenced by its Sekiro-like stance-based combat, several seemingly insurmountable bosses, and vast world filled to the brim with secrets and treasures. Like any Soulslike, the game has currencies that you can use to level up your weapons and gear.
Will is one such currency. Like Sen in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, defeating enemies and breaking pots grants Will to players.
How to Obtain Will in Black Myth: Wukong
Treasure chests scattered across the map contain “Tiny Pieces of Gold”, which you can sell to vendors in exchange for Will. However, treasures do not respawn, so you cannot rely on this as the sole farming method.
Will in Black Myth: Wukong works similarly to currencies in Souls games. These are the steps you need to follow to farm lots of it:
- Defeat the enemies in any designated area of the game.
- Collect the Will dropped by each enemy upon death.
- Run to a nearby Shrine and rest. Resting on Shrines respawns the enemies in the area, which lets you kill them again for Will.
- Rinse and repeat till you have the desired amount.
Ideally, you want to be close to a Shrine when implementing this method so your run-back to rest is short. Small pots containing Will also respawn after you rest at a shrine, so make sure to break all of them in each loop.
The Best Early-Game Will Farming Spot
The Snake Trail Shrine in the Bamboo Grove area, found by players in Chapter 1, is the best Will-farming spot in the early game. The Shrine harbors four to five Snake-men in its immediate vicinity, and each of them drops around 175 Will upon death.
To begin, rest at the Snake Trail Shrine. Then, make your way towards the wooden bridge to kill your first enemy. Once done, drop below the bridge, and you will find three more enemies to kill. Return to the shrine and rest so the enemies can respawn. You will acquire up to 700 Will every time you repeat this process.
You should return to the Snake Trail Shrine in the late game, too. As you become more proficient in combat and level up your weapons and gear, you will be able to utilize this spot to the fullest.
Developed by Chinese studio GameScience, Black Myth: Wukong is a Soulslike action RPG that has shattered several records since its release. It sold 10 million copies in just three days of release and simultaneously broke Steam’s concurrent player records with over 2.2 million players. Loosely based on the famous 1592 Chinese novel Journey to the West, the game follows the Destined One on his journey to retrieve the power of Wukong.
