One of the most powerful Transformation Spells in the game is Dark Thunder. It allows you to take the form of a horse Guai wielding an electric whip. The Spell can be incredibly powerful when used in the right situations and against particular enemies.
Here’s how you can acquire the Dark Thunder Transformation Spell in Black Myth: Wukong.
How to Unlock Dark Thunder Transformation Spell in Black Myth: Wukong
The Dark Thunder Transformation Spell is one of the more challenging Spells to obtain in the game. You will have to find and interact with a horse Guai in various chapters of the game. Given below are the locations of the Horse Guai in the different chapters:
Chapter 1
You can find the Horse Guai in the Bamboo Grove area of Chapter 1. Near the Back Hills Keeper’s Shrine, make your way to a cave with a Meditation Point. The Horse Guai will be sitting on a bell near the Meditation Spot.
Chapter 2
In Chapter 2, make your way to the arena where you fight the Earth Wolf boss. It is near the Village Entrance Keeper’s Shrine. Here, you will find the Horse Guai NPC tied up on a perch near the Earth Wolf boss.
Chapter 3
You can find the Horse Guai near the Temple Entrance Keeper’s Shrine in Chapter 3 of Black Myth: Wukong. Near the New Thunderclap Temple where you fight the Non-Void Boss, you can find the Horse Guai waiting on a bridge behind a pillar.
Chapter 4
You can find the Horse Guai in Chapter 4 by locating a large cocoon near the Middle Hollow Keeper’s Shrine. Destroying this cocoon will trigger a cutscene with the Horse Guai.
Chapter 5
You don’t actually interact with the Horse Guai in Chapter 5 of Black Myth: Wukong. You need to find a crashed cart near the Valley Entrance Keeper’s Shrine after defeating the Keeper of the Flaming Mountains Boss. During the Keeper of the Flaming Mountains boss fight, you will battle the Horse Guai as one of the many creatures.
Note that if you defeat the Keeper of the Flaming Mountains before encountering the Hourse Guai in all chapters of Black Myth: Wukong, you will miss out on the Dark Thunder transformation. This means you will have to wait till New Game+ to get the Transformation Spell.
Once you locate the crashed cart, pull on the cord sticking out of it. This is the Horse Guai’s whip, and you can now transform yourself into him using the Dark Thunder Transformation Spell. You can put the whip to good use and even imbue it with thunder for more damage.
