Black Myth: Wukong is a Soulslike action RPG that drops you in a mythical land inspired by Chinese mythology. The game prepares you to fight the various bosses and monstrosities by letting you level up in different ways. Transformation is a key part of Black Myth: Wukong, and the Violet Hail item facilitates it.

You acquire the Violet Hail item during Daoist Mi’s questline in Chapter 4 of the game. It will eventually lead you to earn the Violet Hail transformation spell.

How to Find the Violet Hail

To find the Violet Hail, you must follow Daoist Mi’s questline. It is not an obvious quest, so be sure to complete it by the end of Chapter 4.

Go to the Petalfall Hamlet Keeper’s Shrine in the Secret: Purple Cloud Mountain. From the shrine, go up the stairs along the path to find Daoist Mi standing near a stone bench. He will greet you as you arrive. Talk to him to trigger a cutscene.

He reveals that Armourworm eggs have rendered his pupils beyond repair and requests you to end their suffering. The bodies of the pupils might still bear eggs, which he asks to to bring so he could hatch a cure.

From here on, walk around the village and kill the men clad in yellow outfits. One of these enemies will drop the Violet Hail item. Should none of them drop one, head back to the shrine and respawn the enemies. Once you acquire the Violet Hail, bring it to Daoist Mi.

The Violet Hail Spell

Daoist Mi turns on you after you deliver the Violet Hail, and you must fight him to survive. The boss has two phases, the second of which can inflict poison, so be quick on your toes.

In the first phase, he fights aggressively swinging his sword and is relentless at cutting the gaps in between. Once defeated, he will consume the Violet Hail to transform into a half-worm half-humanoid creature for the second phase. He will deal greater damage and also poison you if you are not careful.

Use the Immobilize spell and other transformations in your arsenal to defeat him. A Snake NPC will appear and put Daoist Mi out of his misery, extracting the Violet Hail in the process. She will grant the Hail to you, and you will unlock the Violent Hail transformation spell. You will be able to transform into a worm guai that is immune to poison but can inflict poison-laden damage.
